Welcome To Manonmaniam Sundaranar University

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) is a dynamic institution of higher learning, set in a rural milieu of southern Tamil Nadu, with a campus spread of 550 acres. The University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu as a teaching-cum-affiliating University on 7th September, 1990 to cater to the long-felt needs of the people of the four southern most districts of Tamil Nadu viz., Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari.

It is Named after the renowned Tamil Poet scholar, Professor P. Sundaram Pillai (1855-1897), the author of the famous verse drama Manonmaniam. It is his poem that has become “Tamil Thaai Vazhthu” the official invocation song sung in all functions in Tamilnadu.

Eligibility criteria for msu tirunelveli phd admission 2024 (jan).

• Candidates who have passed Master’s Degree through Open University system are not eligible.
• Candidates who have secured their Master’s Degree and M.Phil. with 55% or its equivalent grade of marks (relaxation of 5% of marks to SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer)/differently abled under (10+2)+3+2 pattern of courses of study shall be eligible for Ph.D. programme.
• Final Mark Statement of PG/M.Phil. is mandatary for Ph.D online Registration.

Candidates with fellowship/scholarship in UGC- NET/UGC–CSIR NET/ GATE/CEED/ SET qualifications are exempted from Qualifying Entrance Examination. However they have to register for Interview/Counselling

Selection Process

• Candidates have to appear for entrance test, followed by an interview.
• Entrance Examination will be conducted in the subjects of Master Degree obtained by the candidate.

Candidates are required to discuss their research interest / area through a presentation before Interview Committee.

The entrance exam mark 70% and PG mark 30% will be considered for preparing merit.

The candidates who appeared and passed the Qualifying Entrance Examination in July 2022, July 2023 session need not appear for entrance examination in January 2024 session. However they should have to register for Interview/Counselling for admission. Their entrance mark 70% and PG mark 30% will be taken for ranking and merit list.

NOTE: If that candidates want to improve their entrance marks, they shall apply (fresh) for the Entrance Exam.

Bharat Ratna Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Centenary Research Fellowship amount of Rs.5,000/- per month (other than scholars getting fellowship from other funding agencies) will be awarded for the academic year to the top ranking Ph. D. full time scholars doing research in the University Departments, based on their Entrance mark 70% and PG mark 30%.

Entrance Test Details

The entrance examination will be of objective type with a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. The date of examination is 10.03.2024. The details of entrance exam will be provided after 03.03.2024 with a hall ticket.

Applications are open to Graduate Degree Programs in MS, MPhil & PhD (Research-Based) and MS (Course-Based) for the Fall Semester, Session 2023-24. Interested candidates shall submit an Online Admission Application available at the University’s official website www.uop.edu.pk or by visiting http://gadmissions.uop.edu.pk from 7th September 2023.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

ELIGIBILITY FOR MS/MPHIL:

• Candidates having relevant BS/M.A/M.Sc degree or equivalent (minimum 16 years of education) with at least a CGPA of 2.5/4.0 (in Semester System) or 2nd Division (in Annual System) from a HEC recognized University, shall be eligible for admission.
• The candidates should pass university admission test by obtaining at least 50% marks OR already have a valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS test score of at least 50% marks.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PhD:

• Candidates having relevant MS/MPhil (minimum 18 years of education) degree with at least a CGPA of 3.0/4.0 (in Semester System) from a recognized University, shall be eligible for admission. 
• The candidates should pass university admission test by obtaining at least 60% marks OR already have a valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS test score of at least 60% marks.

ADMISSION SCHEDULE:

Most important instructions:.

• A candidate who already has a valid GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS score card is not required to appear in departmental test to be conducted by the concerned department/institute /centre/college for Fall 2023-24 admissions.
• The concerned department/institute/centre/college will inform all the candidates of their departmental test date, time and venue.
• Only those candidates will be considered for admission whose results are properly declared/notified by the Controller of Examinations on or before 19th September 2023.
• Candidates employed in any Government or Semi-Government department/ organization must submit a No Objection Certificate from the concerned department/organization prior to provisional admission.
• Provision of hostel accommodation will be subject to the availability of seats and shall not be claimed as a matter of right.
• If found ineligible during scrutiny, the candidate shall not be allowed to appear in the interview even if he/she has qualified for the GRE/HAT General/NTS/ETC/ETS or departmental test. Further, if the candidate appears in the interview and is later found to be ineligible for any reason, his/her admission will be cancelled at any stage. 
• In case of ambiguity about eligibility, the opinion of the Graduate Studies Committee of the concerned department will be considered final. 
• All the HEC/University of Peshawar rules/regulations shall be applicable to the admitted scholars.
• The University reserves the right to make changes in any program/admission procedure/regulations when and where deemed necessary.
• Admission fee once deposited shall not be refunded.

• No hard copies are required for submission to the admission office.
• All the candidates are instructed to apply for admission well in time without waiting for the last date in order to reduce the burden on the online admission portal/website.
• No printed admission application form will be issued. Therefore, the candidates are required to apply online on the above-mentioned link only.
• Corrections, if any, in the online admission form will be made through email requests to [email protected] with proper evidence regarding requisite correction before the last date i.e. 19th September 2023.
• No corrections will be made after the last date.
• Admission dues should be paid on the date of interview.

MS/PhD Admission Criteria JULY 2023

UG% means the percentage marks scored in your 4 year UG programme , as reported by you, rounded to one decimal place.

PG% means the percentage marks scored in your 2 year PG programme , as reported by you, rounded to one decimal place.

GS means the Gate Score (out of 1000) obtained in your Gate exam. Gate score should have been taken in 2021 / 2022 / 2023.

Note: If any of these marks are incorrectly reported in your application form, IIT Madras reserves the right to cancel your application on that basis.

Norms for Full-Time MS Programme

Shortlisting for interviews for M.S. are based on UG marks and GATE score

General Category: We will shortlist based on the number of seats vacant, with the following minimum norms. In addition we will also shortlist other candidates on the basis of criteria at the end of this document.

Norms for Full-Time Ph.D. Programme

Shortlisting for interviews for Ph.D. are based on UG and PG marks

Norms for Direct Ph.D. Programme

Shortlisting for interviews for Direct Ph.D. are based on UG marks and GATE score. Candidates from centrally funded technical institutes(CFTI) need to satisfy the norm for the UG marks OR the GATE score . Candidates from other institutes need to satisfy both UG marks and GATE score norms.

In addition the following types of application are handled as follows:

• M.Sc. is considered to be a UG degree , and BSc is not considered as a qualifying degree. MSc students should have cleared NET or GATE to be called for interview. Such students may also be called for PhD test and interview on a case by case basis.
• 4 Year BS will be considered equivalent to a UG degree . BS students should have cleared NET or GATE to be called for interview. Such students may also be called for PhD test and interview on a case by case basis.
• Applicants from CFTI's with high Percentage (above 75 for general category students, and above 70 for reserved category students) are eligible to apply for MS without clearing GATE.
• Applicants who have been (and continue to be) in an IIT Madras project for six months are eligible to apply for MS even if they do not have a gate score. All such project students must have a strong recommendation from their project supervisors. Shortlisting will be done based on a case-by-case basis.
• PhD applicants with good GATE score who are not otherwise eligible may be shortlisted on a case by case basis.
• PhD applicants with high GRE scores who are not otherwise eligible may be shortlisted on a case by case basis.
• MS or PhD applicants with relevant (non-teaching) work-experience who are not otherwise eligible may be shortlisted on a case by case basis.
• MS or PhD applicants with publications in reputed journals or conferences who are not otherwise eligible may be shortlisted on a case by case basis.
• MS applications with GRE scores not accepted as of now.
• PhD applications from candidates with 1 year masters cannot be accepted. The application may be considered for the MS programme instead, provided the UG and GATE scores meet MS norms.

About VITREE

Vellore Institute of Technology Research Entrance Examination (VITREE) is conducted for admission to various Ph.D./Direct Ph.D. programmes in VIT group of Institutions. VITREE - July 2024 session will be conducted on 05 th May 2024 (Based on election date, there is a possibility that the exam date might be subject to change only on the coinciding locations) in 59 cities across India. The duration of the examination will be 2 hours. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions and one mark for right and '0' mark for the wrong answer. • Integrated Reasoning (IR):  This section tests a candidate's ability to evaluate information presented in multiple formats (e.g., graphs, charts, tables) and to synthesize that information to solve complex problems.

• Logical Reasoning -  The LSAT has two logical reasoning sections, each with approximately 24 to 26 questions. These sections test the ability of the candidate to analyze, evaluate, and complete arguments. The questions present arguments in various forms, such as passages, conversations, and advertisements.
• Analytical Reasoning -  Also known as the logic games section, this section contains approximately 22 to 24 questions. The section tests the candidate's ability to understand a set of rules, conditions or relationships, and apply them to solve complex puzzles. The candidate must use logic to determine the correct sequence of events or actions.
• Reading Comprehension -  This section contains one passage of approximately 400 to 500 words, followed by 5 to 8 questions related to the passage. The LSAT has one reading comprehension section, which tests the candidate's ability to understand, analyze, and apply the information presented in complex texts.
• Experimental Section -  This section is unscored and is included in the LSAT to test new questions or sections for future exams. The experimental section can be any one of the three sections mentioned above.
• Writing Sample -  This section is unscored and consists of a single writing prompt. The candidate must respond to the prompt by writing an argumentative essay within 35 minutes. The essay is sent to law schools as part of the candidate's application package.

The LSAT is a timed exam, and each section has a specific time limit. The candidate has approximately 35 minutes to complete each of the four scored sections, and the entire exam takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete.

The LSAT is administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) and is offered several times throughout the year. The test is computer-based, and it takes approximately three and a half hours to complete. LSAT scores range from 120 to 180, with the average score being around 150.

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized test required for admission to medical schools in the United States, Canada, and some other countries.

The MCAT is administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The AAMC develops and delivers the test, and also provides services to medical schools and applicants throughout the admissions process.

MCAT can be taken up to three times in a single testing year, which runs from January 1st to December 31st. The AAMC has established a limit of seven attempts in a lifetime, which includes all attempts made in the past, even if some of those attempts were cancelled or voided.
