The Salvation's Edge raid has arrived mere days after the release of Destiny 2’s last expansion, The Final Shape. This Salvation's Edge guide will cover the entire activity, from starting it and recommended weapons to explanations of the mechanics and how to defeat the bosses. This raid guide will be under construction from the launch of the raid on June 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET until it is completed. Shacknews World’s First Salvation's Edge raid attempt

During the first 48 hours, Contest Mode is active, which limits player Power to a maximum of 1965.

Salvation's Edge weapon & build recommendations

This section will be updated over time once more weapons cycle into the meta and players get a firm grasp on the power of the Prismatic subclass. For now, it’s best to stick with proven builds and strategies established in previous raids.

Titans will no doubt have a lot of flexibility as Pyrogale Gauntlets remain a great one-off Super for Solar Titans, as does Cuirass of the Falling Star Thundercrash for Arc Titans. Additionally, Sentinel Titans with Sentinel Shield will help boost your team’s damage output while Berserker is just great at DPS and survivability.

For Hunters, Star-Eater Scales remains an excellent choice on Arc while Celestial Nighthawk can dish out big damage with Golden Gun and the new Exotic, Still Hunt. Nightstalkers with Shadowshot are also valuable when it comes to debuffing bosses and controlling enemies.

Warlocks, while Well of Radiance has been nerfed, it still provides some nice healing and good damage for your team. Want to lean into DPS? Broodweaver remains an excellent choice with its neutral game and big Super. Even Voidwalker with Nova Bomb could be a good choice, providing you can harness Devour to keep you alive.

When it comes to Exotics and other Legendary weapons, the ones you want to have on-hand remain the same as always:

• Gjallarhorn
• Outbreak Perfected
• Witherhoard
• Izanagi’s Burden

For Legendary weapons, The Final Shape might add a few new interesting options, but the usual suspects remain useful: Apex Predator , Cataclysmic , Commemoration , Edge Transit , The Mountaintop , The Supremacy , Indebted Kindness , Zaouli’s Bane, and more.

We’ll have more clarity on what weapons you should have for each encounter as we clear the raid.

Before you begin the encounter, take some time to familiarize yourself with the layout of the rooms. You’ll notice a ribbon that runs along the ground connecting the rooms via a plate in each room. The goal is to bounce a connection back and forth between the active plate and the room with the conductor. 

To start the encounter, have all players enter the room and deposit the Resonance into the box. Split your fireteam into two teams of three. Each team will work to push through three rooms on either side of the environment. In order to open doors, a Hydra must be defeated. Killing the Hydra in your room opens the door for the team on the other side. When you reach the last room, defeat a Champion to spawn a Tormentor in the middle. Return to the center, defeat the Tormentor, and go through the rooms again. You will need to do this twice and then you’ll be running through the rooms a third time.

On the third run through the rooms, leave someone in the room that has the conductor. One player will be floating between the rooms clearing enemies while the third goes to the active plate. Note that the final room will always be where the active plate spawns.

Run across a plate to send a pulse to the second plate (in the conductor room). When the pulse arrives, it will generate a resonate node. The second player should now run across their plate, sending the pulse back to the first plate, this will spawn another resonate node. Continue ping-ponging the pulse back and forth until all resonate nodes are active.

Collect the resonate nodes until you have Pyramidal Resonance x3. When all players have three nodes, lock the conductor. To lock it, the pulse must be sent to the plate that is in the same room as the conductor. When the pulse arrives at the plate, stand on it and shoot the conductor. Have the player on the active plate send the pulse again - it takes two pulses to lock the conductor.

Once both sides have locked their conductors, you will be asked to return to the middle. Defeat the Tormentor and then deposit your Pyramidal Resonance x3 at the chest. The more you deposit, the more time you will get added back on to the timer. Repeat the whole process until all six conductors are completed.

Split into three teams of two. Send a pair to each section (left, mid, right)

Clear enemies. Three players will be called to fight with a "Call for Reckoning" buff. They go to the boss arena in the middle.

Shoot boss in the head to summon three blights, one in each area. Destroy Blights to remove boss buff and then the three players shoot the boss in the head until it breaks to get Stolen Favor

Players retreat to their sides and then perform the plate pulse mechanic from the first encounter. The Conductor will display a shape that is used to lock it, either a circle or a triangle. The player that locks it must collect that shape and then shoot the Conductor (remember, locking the Conductor requires you to shoot it and then stand on the plate after the pulse arrives). Both players should try to have three of their shapes collected.

Once all three conductors are locked, go to the middle and deposit the Resonance in the chest. Damage phase begins. When damage phase ends, retreat to your sides.

The prevailing strategy for damage appears to be swords. Remember to stack buffs and debuffs, including Weakened effects and Well of Radiance for damage buff.

Biggio DFA opens door for Blue Jays prospect

OAKLAND -- A subpar start to the 2024 campaign has created plenty of tough decisions for the Blue Jays. The latest one was designating Cavan Biggio for assignment in order to create room for Spencer Horwitz on the 26-man roster before Friday's 2-1 walk-off loss to the A's , a move intended to spark the team's scuffling offense.

Manager John Schneider and general manager Ross Atkins let Biggio know about the move on Thursday night. It was a "tough conversation," Schneider said, in which he and Atkins told Biggio that it was more about the team's roster construction than Biggio's capabilities as a big leaguer.

"He wasn't playing a whole lot," Schneider said. "And just us trying to take a different route with our roster and how we're trying to construct it, and the potential for a bit more offense with Spence.

"Again, nothing Cavan did wrong. We expressed that to him. He's been a really good Major League player for a number of years, and he's going to continue to be that."

Biggio was once part of the core group of prospects that represented a bright future for Toronto. But the other members of that group, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, were seen as the headliners of the movement.

Despite taking on more of a reserve role with the club, Biggio was beloved in the Blue Jays' clubhouse and a solid contributor in his tenure. The 29-year-old was at his best in his first two big league seasons, batting .240 with a .798 OPS and a 116 OPS+ in 159 games from 2019-20, but his production dropped off in the years that followed.

Biggio slashed .200/.323/.291 across 44 games in 2024. He made his most starts at second base (23) and in right field (10), while also logging time at first, third and designated hitter.

Cutting Biggio isn't the only tough choice the Blue Jays have made lately, as they also optioned a struggling Erik Swanson to Triple-A Buffalo in late May.

"Knowing all the players that have been involved, they all understand why those decisions were made," Schneider said. "I think that you look up, and you are where you are, and you evaluate, 'OK, what have we been doing? Has it been working, has it not? Is it time to try something else?"

The Blue Jays, sitting three games below .500 and in fifth place in the AL East, are not where they would like to be at this point. Their underperforming offense has played a large role in their current situation, and the hope is that Horwitz can help them get going.

Toronto's No. 16 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, made his big league debut last year and appeared in 15 games across two stints in the Majors. Horwitz went 10-for-39 (.256) with two doubles, a homer and seven RBIs.

While the Blue Jays got off to a disappointing start, Horwitz put together a stellar two-plus months of 2024 for Buffalo, slashing .335/.456/.514 with 22 doubles, four homers and 38 RBIs in 57 games.

Schneider said the tentative plan is for Horwitz to split time 60/40 between second base and first base, with some games as the DH here and there. The left-handed-hitting Horwitz had good numbers against lefties in the Minors this year, but he'll get most of his starts against right-handers for now.

Before 2024, Horwitz had played just seven Minor League games at second base. This year, he's played 11 games there, and impressed his Buffalo coaches while making the transition to the middle infield.

"The words they used were 'pleasantly surprised' with his gameplay," Schneider said. "They put a very specific plan in place as to what they were working on every day. He performed well, and I think he's at the point with his bat where he can hit in the Major Leagues."

Horwitz has also tapped more into his power this season, which had been a lesser component of his game in years past. Part of that has come from having more confidence in what he does well, which he said has contributed to his strong start to 2024.

"If you hit a little bit of a rut or something doesn't go your way, like not making the team out of spring, sometimes you can question yourself," Horwitz said. "I think I kind of got my swagger back a little bit, and it's gone a long way."
