6. AssignmentGuru

AssignmentGuru screenshot

Over time, I’ve scrutinized a range of assignment writing services. It’s quite a challenge for a platform like this to meet my expectations, but this one ingeniously surpassed them. AssignmentGuru’s quintessential vigor resides in its guild of proficient assignment experts. The academic projects I asked for were plagiarism-free and delivered promptly. The platform itself lets you elect writers based on their niche academic expertise and tailored to your precise domain of study. It also has pretty affordable prices, so if you have a pressing essay assignment or struggle with thesis writing, you can reach out and learn how much it costs to get some help (hint: the further the deadline, the cheaper it is).

This reliable service is pretty simple to use. First, you choose the type of assignment you’re interested in. This can include writing, rewriting, or editing. Let’s say that you choose writing. Then you choose the academic level, and the exact type of writing you need help with (essay, case study, marketing plan, computer science paper, research paper, etc.) Next, you choose a deadline and the number of pages you need and describe the project in some detail so the writer you choose will know what to write about. The platform gives you complete anonymity and has a money-back guarantee so if you’re not 100% satisfied for whatever reason, you can get your funds back. To get started, you just need to set up an account, choose your writer, and release the payment only when you’re happy with the result.

  • Effortless interaction with professional writers and the chat feature.
  • You can choose which writer you want to work with, based on their expertise and your unique needs.
  • Plagiarism-free work and meticulous attention to references and attributions.
  • The platform offers no-cost improvements and extra edits along with a reimbursement pledge.
  • Getting expert assistance prevents you from honing your writing skills and developing a deeper knowledge of the academic topic at hand. But it helps you save time, so it might be a good idea to use it if you have other deadlines that you can’t miss.

Top 5 Assignment Help Websites That Will Help You Master Your Success

There is so much pressure on being a college student nowadays. Between lectures, projects, and club memberships, perhaps you feel like the load is too great. Burnout is a real thing, and undergraduates are experiencing it more and more. Many students may even admit that they need a little help. Especially when it comes to writing assignments, which might be one of the toughest parts of college coursework.

We understand how you feel, and so we have composed this list of the best assignment help websites that will take the edge off and give you some relief!

1. AssignmentBro

AssignmentBro has over 250+ reliable writers ready and willing to help you with just about any kind of essay topic, from law to nursing to psychology. They have had over 14,000 satisfied customers and a 4.6 rating on Trustpilot.com .

This is one of the best websites to do assignments because their process is simple. First, you tell them everything that you need to finish the project. Then you can choose from hundreds of experienced writers until you find the one you want. You can stay in communication with the writer and check over the process the entire time.

Many students worry about using assignment writing services because they are afraid their paper will be written by someone that is not credible or qualified enough to complete it. But there’s no need to worry. This is one of the best assignment writing services because it makes its writers go through several rigorous tasks to prove their proficiency in a subject, including a composite English test, diploma and certificate verification, and an academic writing task. This process guarantees that your paper is written by professionals.

They don’t include pricing on their assignment help website because the amount depends on the length of the paper. However, AssignmentBro promises affordable pricing without skimping on high quality.

Expert writers that go through a rigorous verification process

A firm zero-plagiarism policy

Provides a 100% original custom-tailored paper

Prices are not easily available on their website and depend on the assignment given

2. SameDayPapers

Since 2017, SameDayPapers has been providing assignment writing services to the United Kingdom, Australia and, more recently, the United States. It is perfect for English as a Second Language students who might need help with structure and grammar.

Their process is very easy to follow. First, you contact a writer that will go over the process with you through a live chat. After discussing the parameters of your assignment, you can watch the progress and pay once certain sections have been approved.

Students choose this service because the website displays the price at the very beginning. All you have to tell them is the number of pages and the due date. You will then immediately get a calculated price. This is great for those who want to know how much the paper will cost before the project begins.

SameDayPapers is one of the best websites for assignment help because it also provides in-text citations and a bibliography that will cite all works referenced in your paper. Their trusted writers also give free revisions until you are satisfied with their work. In the case that you are not happy, they can offer a full refund. Prices start at $12.99, and if you want your paper edited, the cost will be $5.50 per page.

These are the main reasons why most reviews you’ll find about them are highly positive.

Gives the price of the assignment very quickly

Provides extra services such as a bibliography, in-text citations, and free revisions

The process of the service is easy and straightforward

They don’t have a very large social media presence

3. EduBirdie

EduBirdie was started in 2015, and the website has a 4.7 score on both Sitejabber and REVIEWS.io , making it one of the most reputable sites around. They pride themselves on their exceptionally large team, with over 900 writers ready to help students.

This is the place to come for those who need more than just their paper written. For example, maybe your professor wants you to write a draft of the essay first before you eventually get started on the real thing. For an extra fee (+15% of the price), EduBirdie will create an early draft for you. They can also provide you with a detailed outline or a 1-page abstract for medical students.

On this website, first you fill out an order form, and then you will be matched with a writer. You can speak to them before starting the project to get to know each other. What is also worth mentioning is their growing student community on social media. They have thousands of followers and subscribers on Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube.

They also provide the prices on their website, which start at $13.99/page. Price is determined by the deadline date, the page count, and the writer’s level. Keep in mind that you will have to pay before the paper is completed, but you won’t be billed until you are satisfied with the work.

A very large team of writers

Can create early drafts for students if the professor asks for one

A huge community on social media with Youtube, TikTok, and Instagram

You must pay before the writing starts (but your card will not be charged until the assignment is completed)

Services like early drafts cost extra

4. Eduzaurus

Eduzaurus is one of the largest sample essay databases on the internet. This is one of the most popular assignment help websites because it provides a large selection of writings from nearly all disciplines that students can use for inspiration in their own writing. Between 2015 (the year they were created) and now, the website claims to have more than 150,000 collected works.

This company believes that education and knowledge should be easily accessible to all students. They hope to enrich the learning process and help undergraduates improve their writing skills using real essays written by qualified writers. Some of the types of papers that they can help you with include:

  • Environment

All essay samples are free

Their collection covers a large number of disciplines

Can deliver a custom paper to you in as little as 3 hours

Assignment writing help is not their specialty

5. TypeMyEssays

This website provides many free services that are included with your assignment. Each paper also includes an outline, abstract, and bibliography that you will not have to pay extra for. This could be useful for college juniors, seniors, or postgraduate students.

If you want the ability to choose the best person for your project, then TypeMyEssay is perfect for you. Each writer has a rating based on their accepted projects. This is one of the best websites that do your homework because you can also see the titles of the papers they wrote and the feedback given to them. It’s also proven by the many positive reviews found online.

TypeMyEssay has a Quality Assurance which that verifies that your essay has been professionally edited and proofread. They make a point to only hire native English speakers. If you are worried about security, they also provide total anonymity to their clients as well.

The prices of the papers are clearly displayed at the top of the website, starting at $9.99. They also make it clear that ordering your essay is completely free! You do not have to pay until it is finished and you are satisfied with the result.

  • Has many of the best assignment services, which are provided free with your paper, including an abstract, outline, and bibliography
  • Each writer has an individual rating and specialty
  • There is a team that proofreads all papers before delivery

They have a blog, but it is not up to date

What if I’m not satisfied with the paper I received?

Many of the best assignment writing help services provide a way to monitor the process of the work so you can make sure that everything is correct while it's being written. They usually offer free revisions or a money-back guarantee if you’re still not satisfied. Make sure to read the website carefully and ask questions to customer service if you have any.

How can I ensure that the assignment help website I choose is trustworthy and not a scam?

Testimonials are your friend. Read the reviews on homework help websites left by other customers who talk about the experience using the site to make sure everything is legit. Also, once you have been assigned a writer, ask them questions like “What is your education background?” and “How do you plan to construct this essay?” This will help put your mind at ease.

What are the potential consequences or risks of using assignment services?

There aren’t any. Each of the online assignment help websites on this list claims to provide a 100% custom-made paper with zero plagiarism. That means no AI. They are also very secure and transparent about how your information is used, which is only for banking transactions and communication with the hired writer.

Are You Ready For Less Assignment Stress?

In a time when so much is expected of our college students, it’s nice to know there are some websites that specialize in writing assistance help. On a final note, during and after the project, be sure to ask questions to your assigned writer about how they decided to structure and word the paper. This will help improve your writing skills even more!

10 Best Homework Help Websites for Students

By Med Kharbach, PhD | Last Update: May 11, 2024

homework help websites

In the age of information, the pursuit of knowledge isn’t limited to the boundaries of a physical classroom. The internet, a vast repository of knowledge, provides an invaluable resource for students in need of assistance with their homework. But with such an expansive digital landscape, finding reliable, high-quality educational resources can often feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

That’s where our curated list of the best homework help websites comes into play. To help you navigate the limitless sea of educational platforms, we’ve done the legwork and compiled a selection of the very best websites offering homework help. These websites, vetted for their quality and effectiveness, cover a broad range of subjects, ensuring that every student finds the assistance they need.

Homework Help Websites for Students

From math and science to language learning, social studies, and history, these platforms provide comprehensive resources that empower students to tackle their homework with confidence. Read on to explore our top picks and elevate your learning journey

1. AI Chatbots

Since I published this list on homework assistants, several shifts have occurred in the online landscape, one of which is the remarkable advancement of AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Jasper, Perplexity AI, among others. It struck me that these tools, if harnessed with care and responsibility, could serve as invaluable allies in the homework help arena.

These AI companions can offer instant assistance with a wide range of subjects, from math to literature, making them a flexible resource for students seeking to deepen their understanding or overcome specific challenges. Moreover, their ability to provide tailored support and explanations can make the learning process more engaging and personalized. It’s crucial, though, for students to remain critical thinkers and not rely solely on these tools, using them to supplement their learning journey rather than replace traditional study methods and the invaluable guidance of teachers.

Brainly is a website that offers homework help with subjects such as Math, Social Studies, World Languages, Computer Science, Arts, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, among others. Homework help in Brainly is community-driven and is provided by other students, tutors, Phds, and teachers. There is also the option for students to work 1:1 with tutors live. To learn more, check out Brainly full guide for students .

Chegg is another good website that offers homework help. More specifically Chegg offers three main services: Chegg Study, Textbook rentals, and Internship career advice. These services are accessible for a fee, the subscription plan starts at 14.95 per month.

The Chegg Study comprises the following features: textbook solutions, expert Q&A, writing help, math solver, premium flashcards, video explanations and more. To learn more, check out  Chegg’s full tutorial for students .

3- Socratic

Socratic offers homework help with Science, Math, Literature, Social Studies and more. Socratic provides visual explanations, video tutorials  and detailed step by step guides to help students understand complex concepts.

Using Google AI, Socratic makes it super easy for any student to find solutions to their learning problems. Students simply ask questions using their voice or writing and Socratic brings the best possible educational resource that answers their question. Socratic is available as iOS and Android app.

Quizlet is a very good homework help website. It equips students with the tools they need to learn any skill. There are in-depth explanations that use step by step explanations to show students how to solve complex problems.

Quizlet hosts solutions in over 60 subjects. The Flashcard feature in Quizlet is another powerful tool to help students prepare for their assignments and quizzes. Students can create their own interactive flashcards and study sets or use pre-made ones shared by other students and learners. Quizlet is also available as a mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. To learn more, check out Quizlet guide for teachers and students .

5- Bartleby

Bartleby enables students to search for and find answers to their learning problems, access textbooks, and explore step by step explanations to homework questions. Students can also browse homework help by subject.

There are numerous subjects covered including math, language, engineering, business, social science, science, and many more. Besides homework help, Bartleby also offers a virtual writing center to help students develop their writing skills and Bartleby tutor which provides 1-on-1 tutoring help 24/7. Plus a free trial period, Bartleby also offers the first week for $4.99.

6- Numerade

Numerade features short explanatory STEM video lessons covering answers to different textbook problems and questions. Students can search for problems  or upload an image and get instant help.

Each explanation comes with a step by step video lesson showing how to solve textbook problems. Numerade offers help with textbook questions in the following subjects: physics, algebra, trigonometry, biology, chemistry, accounting, calculus, geometry, statistics, pre-calc, accounting, and many more. Nemrade is also available as an iOS app.

Shmoop offers homework help and study guides for students. Shmoop’s materials stand out because of the dose of humour integrated in them. Shmoop’s resources include study guides, courses, quizzes, assignments, activities, test prep, book summaries, and many more. Some of the resources provided by Shmoop are free but to unlock all the features and content a premium subscription is required.

Enotes is another website to assist students with their homework. It offers precise summaries of books and Q&A services. Students can ask questions about books they have difficulty understanding and Enotes provides answers.

There are over 375.000 questions answered, over 30.000 book summaries, quizzes, lesson plans, study guides and many more. Enotes offers a 48-hour free trial after which you need to upgrade to unlock the site’s features.

9- Sparknotes

Another homework help website that is similar to Enotes. Sparknotes offers study guides that are mostly (but not exclusively) focused on literature. Other subjects covered include: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, History, Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology, and many more.

Teachers can also access materials to help them with the teaching of classic literature including lesson plans and several other customizable materials. Sparknotes offers the first month for free then you need to upgrade to access the site’s materials.

10- Khan Academy

Khan Academy is another very good platform students can use to access a plethora of educational resources covering different subject areas. The site offers tutorials, instructional videos, explainers, guides, lesson plans and many more.

Final thoughts

The landscape of education has been significantly altered by technology, and homework websites are no exception. They offer a range of features—from collaboration tools and assignment trackers to full-fledged courses—that are changing the way students engage with their studies. Whether it’s Khan Academy’s mastery learning approach or Chegg’s expert guidance, each platform brings its unique offerings to the table.

That being said, no homework website can replace the tactile experience of a teacher’s guidance, and not all are made equal. As with anything in the educational tech world, it’s crucial to critically evaluate the sources we rely on. In my experience, while some websites can indeed be lifesavers during crunch time or as complementary study aids, others can be more of a distraction than a help.

3. Study Geek

Oftentimes, it is math that challenges most students. For this reason, Study Geek offers help solely in all levels of math. From Trigonometry to Calculus, Statistics to Algebra and more, this site leverages those who have earned their PhD in Mathematics to assist students. The options to learn include math games, vocabulary, and other lessons.

4. Tutor.com

Similar to Top Homework Helper, Tutor.com provides students with access to tutors. Every session is tailored to your needs as you receive your own personal tutor to help you with school for levels K-12 and college. The tutors are PhD graduates and Ivy League school teachers, professors, doctors, and more.

Chegg Study, also known as Cramster, provides students with homework help through offering solutions for your textbook and homework problems. A note of caution.

When seeking help online for homework or writing assignments, you may be tempted to let someone else do the work for you. However, that is considered cheating and/or plagiarism, and it results in serious consequences, such as being expelled.

Even when you feel like you cannot gather the strength to write a paper or complete an assignment, or you are worried you will fail, you must not give up. Instead, you can leverage resources like online tutors, family and friends, mentors, peers , professors, and teacher’s assistants.

It’s always in your own best interest to try to complete your own assignments. After all, that’s why you’re getting an education!

Some Extra Study Tips

Along with homework comes the need to study for exams. Homework acts as supplementary work to reiterate all the material you learn in your classes and prepare you on a consistent basis for an upcoming exam, as well as to retain the information.

Here are a few study tips that are useful for students of all ages and academic levels.

1. Note-Taking 101

Note-taking is more of an art than a science. When you are in class, whether it be online or in person, it’s important to take notes. But you don’t want to write everything down, so be aware of key topics and bold headlines, as well as lists. Take the main idea from each lesson and write it down in your own words.

Another useful tip for note-taking is to use different colors. You can use colors to either highlight or write, and this can be done strategically so that, for example, all dates are in red, all vocabulary words are in blue, etc. It’s an easy way for your mind to recognize and categorize different tidbits of information for better recall.

2. Read Out Loud

There are different types of learners — some are visual, others are auditory, for example. If you find yourself to be an auditory learner, which means you remember best when you hear something, then try reading to yourself out loud.

Another good time to read out loud is when you write a paper or complete homework that is a writing assignment. Oftentimes, our brain can see a typo and skip over it, but when you read it out loud, you are more likely to hear the mistake and be able to make the correction.

3. Time Management

Time management is an essential part of life, especially when you are a student. Be sure to write down homework deadlines and test dates so you can prepare in advance. Another benefit to writing down your deadlines and test dates in a planner is so that you won’t forget them.

When you have your assignments listed, it’s also easier to ask for help and manage your time. If you need help in a specific subject, you can reference one of the resources above and get in contact with a tutor or further study the subject matter before the assignment is due or the test date arrives.

The Bottom Line

Homework is not meant to be scary, and it doesn’t exist to waste your time or stress you out. Instead, it is there to better prepare you to retain course information so you can continue to build on what you already know.

However, it’s normal to need homework help, and while some people may use their family or friends for help, others need more in-depth assistance. Around-the-clock online homework help solutions are there for your every need. A wide variety exists so that no matter what level you are at and what subject you need help with, you will be able to find a subject matter expert that is there for you!

Understanding Assignments

What this handout is about.

The first step in any successful college writing venture is reading the assignment. While this sounds like a simple task, it can be a tough one. This handout will help you unravel your assignment and begin to craft an effective response. Much of the following advice will involve translating typical assignment terms and practices into meaningful clues to the type of writing your instructor expects. See our short video for more tips.

Basic beginnings

Regardless of the assignment, department, or instructor, adopting these two habits will serve you well :

  • Read the assignment carefully as soon as you receive it. Do not put this task off—reading the assignment at the beginning will save you time, stress, and problems later. An assignment can look pretty straightforward at first, particularly if the instructor has provided lots of information. That does not mean it will not take time and effort to complete; you may even have to learn a new skill to complete the assignment.
  • Ask the instructor about anything you do not understand. Do not hesitate to approach your instructor. Instructors would prefer to set you straight before you hand the paper in. That’s also when you will find their feedback most useful.

Assignment formats

Many assignments follow a basic format. Assignments often begin with an overview of the topic, include a central verb or verbs that describe the task, and offer some additional suggestions, questions, or prompts to get you started.

An Overview of Some Kind

The instructor might set the stage with some general discussion of the subject of the assignment, introduce the topic, or remind you of something pertinent that you have discussed in class. For example:

“Throughout history, gerbils have played a key role in politics,” or “In the last few weeks of class, we have focused on the evening wear of the housefly …”

The Task of the Assignment

Pay attention; this part tells you what to do when you write the paper. Look for the key verb or verbs in the sentence. Words like analyze, summarize, or compare direct you to think about your topic in a certain way. Also pay attention to words such as how, what, when, where, and why; these words guide your attention toward specific information. (See the section in this handout titled “Key Terms” for more information.)

“Analyze the effect that gerbils had on the Russian Revolution”, or “Suggest an interpretation of housefly undergarments that differs from Darwin’s.”

Additional Material to Think about

Here you will find some questions to use as springboards as you begin to think about the topic. Instructors usually include these questions as suggestions rather than requirements. Do not feel compelled to answer every question unless the instructor asks you to do so. Pay attention to the order of the questions. Sometimes they suggest the thinking process your instructor imagines you will need to follow to begin thinking about the topic.

“You may wish to consider the differing views held by Communist gerbils vs. Monarchist gerbils, or Can there be such a thing as ‘the housefly garment industry’ or is it just a home-based craft?”

These are the instructor’s comments about writing expectations:

“Be concise”, “Write effectively”, or “Argue furiously.”

Technical Details

These instructions usually indicate format rules or guidelines.

“Your paper must be typed in Palatino font on gray paper and must not exceed 600 pages. It is due on the anniversary of Mao Tse-tung’s death.”

The assignment’s parts may not appear in exactly this order, and each part may be very long or really short. Nonetheless, being aware of this standard pattern can help you understand what your instructor wants you to do.

Interpreting the assignment

Ask yourself a few basic questions as you read and jot down the answers on the assignment sheet:

Why did your instructor ask you to do this particular task?

Who is your audience.

  • What kind of evidence do you need to support your ideas?

What kind of writing style is acceptable?

  • What are the absolute rules of the paper?

Try to look at the question from the point of view of the instructor. Recognize that your instructor has a reason for giving you this assignment and for giving it to you at a particular point in the semester. In every assignment, the instructor has a challenge for you. This challenge could be anything from demonstrating an ability to think clearly to demonstrating an ability to use the library. See the assignment not as a vague suggestion of what to do but as an opportunity to show that you can handle the course material as directed. Paper assignments give you more than a topic to discuss—they ask you to do something with the topic. Keep reminding yourself of that. Be careful to avoid the other extreme as well: do not read more into the assignment than what is there.

Of course, your instructor has given you an assignment so that they will be able to assess your understanding of the course material and give you an appropriate grade. But there is more to it than that. Your instructor has tried to design a learning experience of some kind. Your instructor wants you to think about something in a particular way for a particular reason. If you read the course description at the beginning of your syllabus, review the assigned readings, and consider the assignment itself, you may begin to see the plan, purpose, or approach to the subject matter that your instructor has created for you. If you still aren’t sure of the assignment’s goals, try asking the instructor. For help with this, see our handout on getting feedback .

Given your instructor’s efforts, it helps to answer the question: What is my purpose in completing this assignment? Is it to gather research from a variety of outside sources and present a coherent picture? Is it to take material I have been learning in class and apply it to a new situation? Is it to prove a point one way or another? Key words from the assignment can help you figure this out. Look for key terms in the form of active verbs that tell you what to do.

Key Terms: Finding Those Active Verbs

Here are some common key words and definitions to help you think about assignment terms:

Information words Ask you to demonstrate what you know about the subject, such as who, what, when, where, how, and why.

  • define —give the subject’s meaning (according to someone or something). Sometimes you have to give more than one view on the subject’s meaning
  • describe —provide details about the subject by answering question words (such as who, what, when, where, how, and why); you might also give details related to the five senses (what you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell)
  • explain —give reasons why or examples of how something happened
  • illustrate —give descriptive examples of the subject and show how each is connected with the subject
  • summarize —briefly list the important ideas you learned about the subject
  • trace —outline how something has changed or developed from an earlier time to its current form
  • research —gather material from outside sources about the subject, often with the implication or requirement that you will analyze what you have found

Relation words Ask you to demonstrate how things are connected.

  • compare —show how two or more things are similar (and, sometimes, different)
  • contrast —show how two or more things are dissimilar
  • apply—use details that you’ve been given to demonstrate how an idea, theory, or concept works in a particular situation
  • cause —show how one event or series of events made something else happen
  • relate —show or describe the connections between things

Interpretation words Ask you to defend ideas of your own about the subject. Do not see these words as requesting opinion alone (unless the assignment specifically says so), but as requiring opinion that is supported by concrete evidence. Remember examples, principles, definitions, or concepts from class or research and use them in your interpretation.

  • assess —summarize your opinion of the subject and measure it against something
  • prove, justify —give reasons or examples to demonstrate how or why something is the truth
  • evaluate, respond —state your opinion of the subject as good, bad, or some combination of the two, with examples and reasons
  • support —give reasons or evidence for something you believe (be sure to state clearly what it is that you believe)
  • synthesize —put two or more things together that have not been put together in class or in your readings before; do not just summarize one and then the other and say that they are similar or different—you must provide a reason for putting them together that runs all the way through the paper
  • analyze —determine how individual parts create or relate to the whole, figure out how something works, what it might mean, or why it is important
  • argue —take a side and defend it with evidence against the other side

More Clues to Your Purpose As you read the assignment, think about what the teacher does in class:

  • What kinds of textbooks or coursepack did your instructor choose for the course—ones that provide background information, explain theories or perspectives, or argue a point of view?
  • In lecture, does your instructor ask your opinion, try to prove their point of view, or use keywords that show up again in the assignment?
  • What kinds of assignments are typical in this discipline? Social science classes often expect more research. Humanities classes thrive on interpretation and analysis.
  • How do the assignments, readings, and lectures work together in the course? Instructors spend time designing courses, sometimes even arguing with their peers about the most effective course materials. Figuring out the overall design to the course will help you understand what each assignment is meant to achieve.

Now, what about your reader? Most undergraduates think of their audience as the instructor. True, your instructor is a good person to keep in mind as you write. But for the purposes of a good paper, think of your audience as someone like your roommate: smart enough to understand a clear, logical argument, but not someone who already knows exactly what is going on in your particular paper. Remember, even if the instructor knows everything there is to know about your paper topic, they still have to read your paper and assess your understanding. In other words, teach the material to your reader.

Aiming a paper at your audience happens in two ways: you make decisions about the tone and the level of information you want to convey.

  • Tone means the “voice” of your paper. Should you be chatty, formal, or objective? Usually you will find some happy medium—you do not want to alienate your reader by sounding condescending or superior, but you do not want to, um, like, totally wig on the man, you know? Eschew ostentatious erudition: some students think the way to sound academic is to use big words. Be careful—you can sound ridiculous, especially if you use the wrong big words.
  • The level of information you use depends on who you think your audience is. If you imagine your audience as your instructor and they already know everything you have to say, you may find yourself leaving out key information that can cause your argument to be unconvincing and illogical. But you do not have to explain every single word or issue. If you are telling your roommate what happened on your favorite science fiction TV show last night, you do not say, “First a dark-haired white man of average height, wearing a suit and carrying a flashlight, walked into the room. Then a purple alien with fifteen arms and at least three eyes turned around. Then the man smiled slightly. In the background, you could hear a clock ticking. The room was fairly dark and had at least two windows that I saw.” You also do not say, “This guy found some aliens. The end.” Find some balance of useful details that support your main point.

You’ll find a much more detailed discussion of these concepts in our handout on audience .

The Grim Truth

With a few exceptions (including some lab and ethnography reports), you are probably being asked to make an argument. You must convince your audience. It is easy to forget this aim when you are researching and writing; as you become involved in your subject matter, you may become enmeshed in the details and focus on learning or simply telling the information you have found. You need to do more than just repeat what you have read. Your writing should have a point, and you should be able to say it in a sentence. Sometimes instructors call this sentence a “thesis” or a “claim.”

So, if your instructor tells you to write about some aspect of oral hygiene, you do not want to just list: “First, you brush your teeth with a soft brush and some peanut butter. Then, you floss with unwaxed, bologna-flavored string. Finally, gargle with bourbon.” Instead, you could say, “Of all the oral cleaning methods, sandblasting removes the most plaque. Therefore it should be recommended by the American Dental Association.” Or, “From an aesthetic perspective, moldy teeth can be quite charming. However, their joys are short-lived.”

Convincing the reader of your argument is the goal of academic writing. It doesn’t have to say “argument” anywhere in the assignment for you to need one. Look at the assignment and think about what kind of argument you could make about it instead of just seeing it as a checklist of information you have to present. For help with understanding the role of argument in academic writing, see our handout on argument .

What kind of evidence do you need?

There are many kinds of evidence, and what type of evidence will work for your assignment can depend on several factors–the discipline, the parameters of the assignment, and your instructor’s preference. Should you use statistics? Historical examples? Do you need to conduct your own experiment? Can you rely on personal experience? See our handout on evidence for suggestions on how to use evidence appropriately.

Make sure you are clear about this part of the assignment, because your use of evidence will be crucial in writing a successful paper. You are not just learning how to argue; you are learning how to argue with specific types of materials and ideas. Ask your instructor what counts as acceptable evidence. You can also ask a librarian for help. No matter what kind of evidence you use, be sure to cite it correctly—see the UNC Libraries citation tutorial .

You cannot always tell from the assignment just what sort of writing style your instructor expects. The instructor may be really laid back in class but still expect you to sound formal in writing. Or the instructor may be fairly formal in class and ask you to write a reflection paper where you need to use “I” and speak from your own experience.

Try to avoid false associations of a particular field with a style (“art historians like wacky creativity,” or “political scientists are boring and just give facts”) and look instead to the types of readings you have been given in class. No one expects you to write like Plato—just use the readings as a guide for what is standard or preferable to your instructor. When in doubt, ask your instructor about the level of formality they expect.

No matter what field you are writing for or what facts you are including, if you do not write so that your reader can understand your main idea, you have wasted your time. So make clarity your main goal. For specific help with style, see our handout on style .

Technical details about the assignment

The technical information you are given in an assignment always seems like the easy part. This section can actually give you lots of little hints about approaching the task. Find out if elements such as page length and citation format (see the UNC Libraries citation tutorial ) are negotiable. Some professors do not have strong preferences as long as you are consistent and fully answer the assignment. Some professors are very specific and will deduct big points for deviations.

Usually, the page length tells you something important: The instructor thinks the size of the paper is appropriate to the assignment’s parameters. In plain English, your instructor is telling you how many pages it should take for you to answer the question as fully as you are expected to. So if an assignment is two pages long, you cannot pad your paper with examples or reword your main idea several times. Hit your one point early, defend it with the clearest example, and finish quickly. If an assignment is ten pages long, you can be more complex in your main points and examples—and if you can only produce five pages for that assignment, you need to see someone for help—as soon as possible.

Tricks that don’t work

Your instructors are not fooled when you:

  • spend more time on the cover page than the essay —graphics, cool binders, and cute titles are no replacement for a well-written paper.
  • use huge fonts, wide margins, or extra spacing to pad the page length —these tricks are immediately obvious to the eye. Most instructors use the same word processor you do. They know what’s possible. Such tactics are especially damning when the instructor has a stack of 60 papers to grade and yours is the only one that low-flying airplane pilots could read.
  • use a paper from another class that covered “sort of similar” material . Again, the instructor has a particular task for you to fulfill in the assignment that usually relates to course material and lectures. Your other paper may not cover this material, and turning in the same paper for more than one course may constitute an Honor Code violation . Ask the instructor—it can’t hurt.
  • get all wacky and “creative” before you answer the question . Showing that you are able to think beyond the boundaries of a simple assignment can be good, but you must do what the assignment calls for first. Again, check with your instructor. A humorous tone can be refreshing for someone grading a stack of papers, but it will not get you a good grade if you have not fulfilled the task.

Critical reading of assignments leads to skills in other types of reading and writing. If you get good at figuring out what the real goals of assignments are, you are going to be better at understanding the goals of all of your classes and fields of study.

How to Do Homework: Figure Out Your Struggles

Sometimes it feels like everything is standing between you and getting your homework done. But the truth is, most people only have one or two major roadblocks that are keeping them from getting their homework done well and on time.

The best way to figure out how to get motivated to do homework starts with pinpointing the issues that are affecting your ability to get your assignments done. That’s why we’ve developed a short quiz to help you identify the areas where you’re struggling.

Take the quiz below and record your answers on your phone or on a scrap piece of paper. Keep in mind there are no wrong answers!

1. You’ve just been assigned an essay in your English class that’s due at the end of the week. What’s the first thing you do?

A. Keep it in mind, even though you won’t start it until the day before it’s due  B. Open up your planner. You’ve got to figure out when you’ll write your paper since you have band practice, a speech tournament, and your little sister’s dance recital this week, too.  C. Groan out loud. Another essay? You could barely get yourself to write the last one!  D. Start thinking about your essay topic, which makes you think about your art project that’s due the same day, which reminds you that your favorite artist might have just posted to Instagram...so you better check your feed right now.

2. Your mom asked you to pick up your room before she gets home from work. You’ve just gotten home from school. You decide you’ll tackle your chores:

A. Five minutes before your mom walks through the front door. As long as it gets done, who cares when you start?  B. As soon as you get home from your shift at the local grocery store.  C. After you give yourself a 15-minute pep talk about how you need to get to work.  D. You won’t get it done. Between texts from your friends, trying to watch your favorite Netflix show, and playing with your dog, you just lost track of time!

3. You’ve signed up to wash dogs at the Humane Society to help earn money for your senior class trip. You:

A. Show up ten minutes late. You put off leaving your house until the last minute, then got stuck in unexpected traffic on the way to the shelter.  B. Have to call and cancel at the last minute. You forgot you’d already agreed to babysit your cousin and bake cupcakes for tomorrow’s bake sale.  C. Actually arrive fifteen minutes early with extra brushes and bandanas you picked up at the store. You’re passionate about animals, so you’re excited to help out! D. Show up on time, but only get three dogs washed. You couldn’t help it: you just kept getting distracted by how cute they were!

4. You have an hour of downtime, so you decide you’re going to watch an episode of The Great British Baking Show. You:

A. Scroll through your social media feeds for twenty minutes before hitting play, which means you’re not able to finish the whole episode. Ugh! You really wanted to see who was sent home!  B. Watch fifteen minutes until you remember you’re supposed to pick up your sister from band practice before heading to your part-time job. No GBBO for you!  C. You finish one episode, then decide to watch another even though you’ve got SAT studying to do. It’s just more fun to watch people make scones.  D. Start the episode, but only catch bits and pieces of it because you’re reading Twitter, cleaning out your backpack, and eating a snack at the same time.

5. Your teacher asks you to stay after class because you’ve missed turning in two homework assignments in a row. When she asks you what’s wrong, you say:

A. You planned to do your assignments during lunch, but you ran out of time. You decided it would be better to turn in nothing at all than submit unfinished work.  B. You really wanted to get the assignments done, but between your extracurriculars, family commitments, and your part-time job, your homework fell through the cracks.  C. You have a hard time psyching yourself to tackle the assignments. You just can’t seem to find the motivation to work on them once you get home.  D. You tried to do them, but you had a hard time focusing. By the time you realized you hadn’t gotten anything done, it was already time to turn them in.

Like we said earlier, there are no right or wrong answers to this quiz (though your results will be better if you answered as honestly as possible). Here’s how your answers break down:

  • If your answers were mostly As, then your biggest struggle with doing homework is procrastination.
  • If your answers were mostly Bs, then your biggest struggle with doing homework is time management.
  • If your answers were mostly Cs, then your biggest struggle with doing homework is motivation.
  • If your answers were mostly Ds, then your biggest struggle with doing homework is getting distracted.

Now that you’ve identified why you’re having a hard time getting your homework done, we can help you figure out how to fix it! Scroll down to find your core problem area to learn more about how you can start to address it.

And one more thing: you’re really struggling with homework, it’s a good idea to read through every section below. You may find some additional tips that will help make homework less intimidating.

body-procrastination-meme

How to Do Homework When You’re a Procrastinator

Merriam Webster defines “procrastinate” as “to put off intentionally and habitually.” In other words, procrastination is when you choose to do something at the last minute on a regular basis. If you’ve ever found yourself pulling an all-nighter, trying to finish an assignment between periods, or sprinting to turn in a paper minutes before a deadline, you’ve experienced the effects of procrastination.

If you’re a chronic procrastinator, you’re in good company. In fact, one study found that 70% to 95% of undergraduate students procrastinate when it comes to doing their homework. Unfortunately, procrastination can negatively impact your grades. Researchers have found that procrastination can lower your grade on an assignment by as much as five points ...which might not sound serious until you realize that can mean the difference between a B- and a C+.

Procrastination can also negatively affect your health by increasing your stress levels , which can lead to other health conditions like insomnia, a weakened immune system, and even heart conditions. Getting a handle on procrastination can not only improve your grades, it can make you feel better, too!

The big thing to understand about procrastination is that it’s not the result of laziness. Laziness is defined as being “disinclined to activity or exertion.” In other words, being lazy is all about doing nothing. But a s this Psychology Today article explains , procrastinators don’t put things off because they don’t want to work. Instead, procrastinators tend to postpone tasks they don’t want to do in favor of tasks that they perceive as either more important or more fun. Put another way, procrastinators want to do things...as long as it’s not their homework!

3 Tips f or Conquering Procrastination

Because putting off doing homework is a common problem, there are lots of good tactics for addressing procrastination. Keep reading for our three expert tips that will get your homework habits back on track in no time.

#1: Create a Reward System

Like we mentioned earlier, procrastination happens when you prioritize other activities over getting your homework done. Many times, this happens because homework...well, just isn’t enjoyable. But you can add some fun back into the process by rewarding yourself for getting your work done.

Here’s what we mean: let’s say you decide that every time you get your homework done before the day it’s due, you’ll give yourself a point. For every five points you earn, you’ll treat yourself to your favorite dessert: a chocolate cupcake! Now you have an extra (delicious!) incentive to motivate you to leave procrastination in the dust.

If you’re not into cupcakes, don’t worry. Your reward can be anything that motivates you . Maybe it’s hanging out with your best friend or an extra ten minutes of video game time. As long as you’re choosing something that makes homework worth doing, you’ll be successful.

#2: Have a Homework Accountability Partner

If you’re having trouble getting yourself to start your homework ahead of time, it may be a good idea to call in reinforcements . Find a friend or classmate you can trust and explain to them that you’re trying to change your homework habits. Ask them if they’d be willing to text you to make sure you’re doing your homework and check in with you once a week to see if you’re meeting your anti-procrastination goals.

Sharing your goals can make them feel more real, and an accountability partner can help hold you responsible for your decisions. For example, let’s say you’re tempted to put off your science lab write-up until the morning before it’s due. But you know that your accountability partner is going to text you about it tomorrow...and you don’t want to fess up that you haven’t started your assignment. A homework accountability partner can give you the extra support and incentive you need to keep your homework habits on track.

#3: Create Your Own Due Dates

If you’re a life-long procrastinator, you might find that changing the habit is harder than you expected. In that case, you might try using procrastination to your advantage! If you just can’t seem to stop doing your work at the last minute, try setting your own due dates for assignments that range from a day to a week before the assignment is actually due.

Here’s what we mean. Let’s say you have a math worksheet that’s been assigned on Tuesday and is due on Friday. In your planner, you can write down the due date as Thursday instead. You may still put off your homework assignment until the last minute...but in this case, the “last minute” is a day before the assignment’s real due date . This little hack can trick your procrastination-addicted brain into planning ahead!

If you feel like Kevin Hart in this meme, then our tips for doing homework when you're busy are for you.

How to Do Homework When You’re too Busy

If you’re aiming to go to a top-tier college , you’re going to have a full plate. Because college admissions is getting more competitive, it’s important that you’re maintaining your grades , studying hard for your standardized tests , and participating in extracurriculars so your application stands out. A packed schedule can get even more hectic once you add family obligations or a part-time job to the mix.

If you feel like you’re being pulled in a million directions at once, you’re not alone. Recent research has found that stress—and more severe stress-related conditions like anxiety and depression— are a major problem for high school students . In fact, one study from the American Psychological Association found that during the school year, students’ stress levels are higher than those of the adults around them.

For students, homework is a major contributor to their overall stress levels . Many high schoolers have multiple hours of homework every night , and figuring out how to fit it into an already-packed schedule can seem impossible.

3 Tips for Fitting Homework Into Your Busy Schedule

While it might feel like you have literally no time left in your schedule, there are still ways to make sure you’re able to get your homework done and meet your other commitments. Here are our expert homework tips for even the busiest of students.

#1: Make a Prioritized To-Do List

You probably already have a to-do list to keep yourself on track. The next step is to prioritize the items on your to-do list so you can see what items need your attention right away.

Here’s how it works: at the beginning of each day, sit down and make a list of all the items you need to get done before you go to bed. This includes your homework, but it should also take into account any practices, chores, events, or job shifts you may have. Once you get everything listed out, it’s time to prioritize them using the labels A, B, and C. Here’s what those labels mean:

  • A Tasks : tasks that have to get done—like showing up at work or turning in an assignment—get an A.
  • B Tasks : these are tasks that you would like to get done by the end of the day but aren’t as time sensitive. For example, studying for a test you have next week could be a B-level task. It’s still important, but it doesn’t have to be done right away.
  • C Tasks: these are tasks that aren’t very important and/or have no real consequences if you don’t get them done immediately. For instance, if you’re hoping to clean out your closet but it’s not an assigned chore from your parents, you could label that to-do item with a C.

Prioritizing your to-do list helps you visualize which items need your immediate attention, and which items you can leave for later. A prioritized to-do list ensures that you’re spending your time efficiently and effectively, which helps you make room in your schedule for homework. So even though you might really want to start making decorations for Homecoming (a B task), you’ll know that finishing your reading log (an A task) is more important.

#2: Use a Planner With Time Labels

Your planner is probably packed with notes, events, and assignments already. (And if you’re not using a planner, it’s time to start!) But planners can do more for you than just remind you when an assignment is due. If you’re using a planner with time labels, it can help you visualize how you need to spend your day.

A planner with time labels breaks your day down into chunks, and you assign tasks to each chunk of time. For example, you can make a note of your class schedule with assignments, block out time to study, and make sure you know when you need to be at practice. Once you know which tasks take priority, you can add them to any empty spaces in your day.

Planning out how you spend your time not only helps you use it wisely, it can help you feel less overwhelmed, too . We’re big fans of planners that include a task list ( like this one ) or have room for notes ( like this one ).

#3: Set Reminders on Your Phone

If you need a little extra nudge to make sure you’re getting your homework done on time, it’s a good idea to set some reminders on your phone. You don’t need a fancy app, either. You can use your alarm app to have it go off at specific times throughout the day to remind you to do your homework. This works especially well if you have a set homework time scheduled. So if you’ve decided you’re doing homework at 6:00 pm, you can set an alarm to remind you to bust out your books and get to work.

If you use your phone as your planner, you may have the option to add alerts, emails, or notifications to scheduled events . Many calendar apps, including the one that comes with your phone, have built-in reminders that you can customize to meet your needs. So if you block off time to do your homework from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, you can set a reminder that will pop up on your phone when it’s time to get started.

body-unmotivated-meme

This dog isn't judging your lack of motivation...but your teacher might. Keep reading for tips to help you motivate yourself to do your homework.

How to Do Homework When You’re Unmotivated

At first glance, it may seem like procrastination and being unmotivated are the same thing. After all, both of these issues usually result in you putting off your homework until the very last minute.

But there’s one key difference: many procrastinators are working, they’re just prioritizing work differently. They know they’re going to start their homework...they’re just going to do it later.

Conversely, people who are unmotivated to do homework just can’t find the willpower to tackle their assignments. Procrastinators know they’ll at least attempt the homework at the last minute, whereas people who are unmotivated struggle with convincing themselves to do it at a ll. For procrastinators, the stress comes from the inevitable time crunch. For unmotivated people, the stress comes from trying to convince themselves to do something they don’t want to do in the first place.

Here are some common reasons students are unmotivated in doing homework :

  • Assignments are too easy, too hard, or seemingly pointless
  • Students aren’t interested in (or passionate about) the subject matter
  • Students are intimidated by the work and/or feels like they don’t understand the assignment
  • Homework isn’t fun, and students would rather spend their time on things that they enjoy

To sum it up: people who lack motivation to do their homework are more likely to not do it at all, or to spend more time worrying about doing their homework than...well, actually doing it.

3 Tips for How to Get Motivated to Do Homework

The key to getting homework done when you’re unmotivated is to figure out what does motivate you, then apply those things to homework. It sounds tricky...but it’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it! Here are our three expert tips for motivating yourself to do your homework.

#1: Use Incremental Incentives

When you’re not motivated, it’s important to give yourself small rewards to stay focused on finishing the task at hand. The trick is to keep the incentives small and to reward yourself often. For example, maybe you’re reading a good book in your free time. For every ten minutes you spend on your homework, you get to read five pages of your book. Like we mentioned earlier, make sure you’re choosing a reward that works for you!

So why does this technique work? Using small rewards more often allows you to experience small wins for getting your work done. Every time you make it to one of your tiny reward points, you get to celebrate your success, which gives your brain a boost of dopamine . Dopamine helps you stay motivated and also creates a feeling of satisfaction when you complete your homework !

#2: Form a Homework Group

If you’re having trouble motivating yourself, it’s okay to turn to others for support. Creating a homework group can help with this. Bring together a group of your friends or classmates, and pick one time a week where you meet and work on homework together. You don’t have to be in the same class, or even taking the same subjects— the goal is to encourage one another to start (and finish!) your assignments.

Another added benefit of a homework group is that you can help one another if you’re struggling to understand the material covered in your classes. This is especially helpful if your lack of motivation comes from being intimidated by your assignments. Asking your friends for help may feel less scary than talking to your teacher...and once you get a handle on the material, your homework may become less frightening, too.

#3: Change Up Your Environment

If you find that you’re totally unmotivated, it may help if you find a new place to do your homework. For example, if you’ve been struggling to get your homework done at home, try spending an extra hour in the library after school instead. The change of scenery can limit your distractions and give you the energy you need to get your work done.

If you’re stuck doing homework at home, you can still use this tip. For instance, maybe you’ve always done your homework sitting on your bed. Try relocating somewhere else, like your kitchen table, for a few weeks. You may find that setting up a new “homework spot” in your house gives you a motivational lift and helps you get your work done.

body-focus-meme

Social media can be a huge problem when it comes to doing homework. We have advice for helping you unplug and regain focus.

How to Do Homework When You’re Easily Distracted

We live in an always-on world, and there are tons of things clamoring for our attention. From friends and family to pop culture and social media, it seems like there’s always something (or someone!) distracting us from the things we need to do.

The 24/7 world we live in has affected our ability to focus on tasks for prolonged periods of time. Research has shown that over the past decade, an average person’s attention span has gone from 12 seconds to eight seconds . And when we do lose focus, i t takes people a long time to get back on task . One study found that it can take as long as 23 minutes to get back to work once we’ve been distracte d. No wonder it can take hours to get your homework done!

3 Tips to Improve Your Focus

If you have a hard time focusing when you’re doing your homework, it’s a good idea to try and eliminate as many distractions as possible. Here are three expert tips for blocking out the noise so you can focus on getting your homework done.

#1: Create a Distraction-Free Environment

Pick a place where you’ll do your homework every day, and make it as distraction-free as possible. Try to find a location where there won’t be tons of noise, and limit your access to screens while you’re doing your homework. Put together a focus-oriented playlist (or choose one on your favorite streaming service), and put your headphones on while you work.

You may find that other people, like your friends and family, are your biggest distraction. If that’s the case, try setting up some homework boundaries. Let them know when you’ll be working on homework every day, and ask them if they’ll help you keep a quiet environment. They’ll be happy to lend a hand!

#2: Limit Your Access to Technology

We know, we know...this tip isn’t fun, but it does work. For homework that doesn’t require a computer, like handouts or worksheets, it’s best to put all your technology away . Turn off your television, put your phone and laptop in your backpack, and silence notifications on any wearable tech you may be sporting. If you listen to music while you work, that’s fine...but make sure you have a playlist set up so you’re not shuffling through songs once you get started on your homework.

If your homework requires your laptop or tablet, it can be harder to limit your access to distractions. But it’s not impossible! T here are apps you can download that will block certain websites while you’re working so that you’re not tempted to scroll through Twitter or check your Facebook feed. Silence notifications and text messages on your computer, and don’t open your email account unless you absolutely have to. And if you don’t need access to the internet to complete your assignments, turn off your WiFi. Cutting out the online chatter is a great way to make sure you’re getting your homework done.

#3: Set a Timer (the Pomodoro Technique)

Have you ever heard of the Pomodoro technique ? It’s a productivity hack that uses a timer to help you focus!

Here’s how it works: first, set a timer for 25 minutes. This is going to be your work time. During this 25 minutes, all you can do is work on whatever homework assignment you have in front of you. No email, no text messaging, no phone calls—just homework. When that timer goes off, you get to take a 5 minute break. Every time you go through one of these cycles, it’s called a “pomodoro.” For every four pomodoros you complete, you can take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.

The pomodoro technique works through a combination of boundary setting and rewards. First, it gives you a finite amount of time to focus, so you know that you only have to work really hard for 25 minutes. Once you’ve done that, you’re rewarded with a short break where you can do whatever you want. Additionally, tracking how many pomodoros you complete can help you see how long you’re really working on your homework. (Once you start using our focus tips, you may find it doesn’t take as long as you thought!)

Two Bonus Tips for How to Do Homework Fast

Even if you’re doing everything right, there will be times when you just need to get your homework done as fast as possible. (Why do teachers always have projects due in the same week? The world may never know.)

The problem with speeding through homework is that it’s easy to make mistakes. While turning in an assignment is always better than not submitting anything at all, you want to make sure that you’re not compromising quality for speed. Simply put, the goal is to get your homework done quickly and still make a good grade on the assignment!

Here are our two bonus tips for getting a decent grade on your homework assignments , even when you’re in a time crunch.

#1: Do the Easy Parts First

This is especially true if you’re working on a handout with multiple questions. Before you start working on the assignment, read through all the questions and problems. As you do, make a mark beside the questions you think are “easy” to answer .

Once you’ve finished going through the whole assignment, you can answer these questions first. Getting the easy questions out of the way as quickly as possible lets you spend more time on the trickier portions of your homework, which will maximize your assignment grade.

(Quick note: this is also a good strategy to use on timed assignments and tests, like the SAT and the ACT !)

#2: Pay Attention in Class

Homework gets a lot easier when you’re actively learning the material. Teachers aren’t giving you homework because they’re mean or trying to ruin your weekend... it’s because they want you to really understand the course material. Homework is designed to reinforce what you’re already learning in class so you’ll be ready to tackle harder concepts later.

When you pay attention in class, ask questions, and take good notes, you’re absorbing the information you’ll need to succeed on your homework assignments. (You’re stuck in class anyway, so you might as well make the most of it!) Not only will paying attention in class make your homework less confusing, it will also help it go much faster, too.

I enjoy writing assignments on psychology because I can learn a lot of new things about myself. Sometimes, I even recognize behaviors described in books. However last week, when my parents went away on business and left me with my 10-year-old brother, I couldn’t do my own writing. Thank God this service is always here to help.

I never understood how someone I’d never met in person could complete my paper based on my ideas and do it so perfectly! Yet that’s what you guys did! The expert I worked with demonstrated a deep understanding of political science that surpassed my expectations. I now have more faith in assignment writing help than ever before.

I used to believe that writing services were operated by bots, hence I never considered using them. However, when I submitted my prompt here, I was surprised to receive a quick and detailed response from your team. It gave me confidence that I was looking at the real thing. I was not disappointed when I got the final paper as it helped me score a straight A.

Being a student is a tall order. There are so many responsibilities to take care of. I remember being in my second year and wondering if there would ever be a time when I would have to delegate. And then that time came. Now that I have Assignment Geek by my side, using it makes me wonder if I will ever do my own writing, hahaha.

Here’s my feedback on your service. The writing was excellent with detailed, original, and up todate arguments. You provided compelling examples and references from relevant authors. It's probably the best term paper I could have hoped for from someone I don't know. I hope my future assignments with you will be just as good!

The expert you provided for my dissertation is fantastic! Seeing him work so hard was the best motivation booster. He has a master's degree in philosophy, and it was vital for me to have that kind of writer on my paper. I appreciate your fantastic service and the pleasure of working with you. Sorry for being a bit emotional.

I appreciate your help with my essay. I wrote it myself and I must say it was a challenge. I didn’t have access to a reliable writing service at the time. Once I discovered this website I decided to bring my paper here. So glad I did. I believe hearing a professional opinion and advice is essential when submitting academic work.

Thank you, thank you!! Your little service is terrific! I gave out only a few details. Surprisingly you produced a full bodied piece of writing precisely like my teacher wanted! I wonder if all your experts are this good and professional. I’ll use your service again so that you can take care of my other assignments.

Oh well I'm not a big fan of writing long reviews but Assignment Geek com is definitely worth breaking this habit. OK, it’s a good company, I liked it a lot. It has a lot of cool things to offer besides the writing services It provides. Their experts can tackle various projects things like business plans, terms papers and essays

The Benefits of This Type of Assignment Writing

School assignments can be a drag, even for the most determined students. Think about it: there was a time when online assignment help wasn’t available yet. College kids had to dedicate hours of their time outside of class to researching, writing, and revising essays and papers for their classes. It didn’t do much for their social lives!

Whenever you order from Assignment Geek, you are guaranteed to receive only original college assignments, done by professionals and done exclusively for you.

These days, though, assignment help is out there, and it can often mean the difference between passing a class and failing miserably. If you’re struggling to understand the assignments for some of your toughest classes, hiring a pro probably looks pretty appealing.

It’s easy to do that now. The assignment services right here on this website ensure you’ll get that good grade you need so badly. You can spend your free time chatting up the cutie across the hall from you instead!

Just Say “Do My Assignment” and Watch the Magic Happen

Maybe you still feel wary about hiring someone else to do your assignments. Let us set your mind at ease. To get assignment help online is now simple and easy. You’ve already found the most credible website for any essay assignment that you’ve been dreading.

It starts when you contact the professionals here on the site and say, “write my assignment!” From that point forward, you’ll have someone on your side whose only concern is helping you pass your class.

We’ll look over your assignment and get to work immediately. AssignmentGeek only hires native English speakers with advanced degrees. They’re experts on literally any academic topic you can think of. We also handle editing, proofreading, and checking for plagiarism - all the mind-numbing stuff you used to have to do on your own.

The Best Assignment Writing Help is Just Moments Away

Now that you know professional online assignment help is available right here on this site, what are you waiting for? Look, if you feel like having an assignment written for you doesn’t make the most sense, then nothing says you have to go through with it. You should know that this option is available, though, and that many students just like yourself are taking advantage of it.

You don’t have to overburden yourself with your studies. Proving your dedication by going to every one of your classes is awesome, and we are sure your professor is taking notice. You don’t have to sacrifice every moment of your weekend working on a paper, though. It makes all the sense in the world to hire a pro to help you if you don’t fully understand the subject or you’ve got a pressing social engagement you just can’t miss.

Life is all about balance, and when you’re older, you might very well regret spending every moment of your time slaving away over some essay when you could have been out making friends and having fun. You should enjoy all things in moderation, but if you can’t even remember the last time you went out with your buddies, that’s a sure sign you need to enlist some help with your classwork.

You’ve found the site where you can do that, and it’s easy and affordable. Now is the time to seize the day and hire a pro for some expert homework assistance while you remind yourself what it’s like to relax and cut loose with your pals for the evening. You’ve earned it!

Is Getting Help with Assignments Unethical?

asking for an assignment help wrong, you ask? Perish the thought! Look, we all know that writing the assignment on your own and never asking for help is ideal. There are times when it simply isn’t realistic, though.

Assignments aren’t always easy. Some students might struggle with assignments because they’re not fast readers like the rest of the class. Others may have jobs or family responsibilities they need to take care of. The time and energy to dedicate to school assignments may not always be there, much as you would like it to be.

If you ask AssignmentGeek for help, we can do your work for you, and then you can mimic our techniques the next time you write a paper. You can look at the essays you get back as learning tools to enhance your academic skills. We feel there’s nothing wrong with that.

Real-World Examples of Our Service in Action

There are tons of real examples of students who benefitted from assignment help. Some were dubious about getting professional help for assignments, but when they did, they passed at the head of their classes. The assignment assistance from our service was what it took for them to get hired at high-paying jobs right out of college.

Those who couldn’t have written an assignment on their own got the help they needed, and they didn’t just pass their classes. They also learned to manage their time better and navigated heavy course loads. Other students who couldn’t have written an assignment for their most challenging classes were able to learn complex skills by studying the finished paper their professional writer gave back to them.

Other students who don’t speak or write English as their first language have been able to benefit from our services. Just because you’re not a native speaker, that doesn’t mean you should have to dedicate twice as much effort to your assignments as someone who is.

What is thought and how does thinking manifest in the brain?

We can describe different kinds of thought and how they arise, to some extent, but the relationship between neural activity and the nature of what we are thinking isn't well understood

We’re all at it, all the time. Yet thinking, or how we should think about thought, is surprisingly hard to pin down. When I did a vox pop, for instance, a couple of friends described thoughts as “wispy things”. Another saw them as sparklers, fizzing with chaotic flashes but containing a central light source that is controllable.

All of which is decidedly unscientific. But then even the experts aren’t so sure about what thoughts are, and what we can surmise from the latest neuroimaging studies suggests we may never truly pin down how they manifest in the brain.

“The short answer is that no one really knows what thought is, ” says Tim Bayne , a philosopher at Monash University in Australia and author of Thought: A very short introduction . Even so, it is useful to consider two aspects of thought, he says: their content and their nature.

The new evidence that explains what anxiety really is

Kalina Christoff ‘s definition does exactly that. “Thought is a mental state, or series of mental states, that has some kind of content to it, with some personal attitudes towards the content – like an attitude of remembering or believing or imagining,” says Christoff, who runs the Cognitive Neuroscience of Thought Laboratory at the University of British Columbia in Canada.

First, let’s consider content. Thinking isn’t the same as perceiving or sensing: all involve holding something before one’s mind, so to speak, but thoughts are distinct in that they are independent of any stimulus produced by the thing being thought about.

In terms of how they arise, Christoff identifies three streams…

Retrace your steps with Recall

Search across time to find the content you need. Then, re-engage with it. With Recall, you have an explorable timeline of your PC’s past. Just describe how you remember it and Recall will retrieve the moment you saw it. Any photo, link, or message can be a fresh point to continue from. As you use your PC, Recall takes snapshots of your screen. Snapshots are taken every five seconds while content on the screen is different from the previous snapshot. Your snapshots are then locally stored and locally analyzed on your PC. Recall’s analysis allows you to search for content, including both images and text, using natural language. Trying to remember the name of the Korean restaurant your friend Alice mentioned? Just ask Recall and it retrieves both text and visual matches for your search, automatically sorted by how closely the results match your search. Recall can even take you back to the exact location of the item you saw.

Screenshot of Recall displaying the search results for the query "Korean restaurant that Alice".

Note:  Recall is optimized for select languages (English, Chinese (simplified), French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Content-based and storage limitations apply. For more information, see https://aka.ms/nextgenaipcs .

System requirements for Recall

Your PC needs the following minimum system requirements for Recall:

A Copilot+ PC

8 logical processors

256 GB storage capacity

To enable Recall, you’ll need at least 50 GB of storage space free

Saving screenshots automatically pauses once the device has less than 25 GB of storage space

How to use Recall

To open Recall, use the keyboard shortcut +J , or select the following Recall icon on your taskbar:

Icon for Recall on the taskbar

Your timeline in Recall is broken up into segments, which are the blocks of time that Recall was taking snapshots while you were using your PC. You can hover over your timeline to review your activity in a preview window. Selecting the location on the timeline or selecting the preview window loads the snapshot where you can  interact with the content .

Screenshot of Recall with the mouse pointer hovering over a timeline segment.

Search with Recall

Maybe you wanted to make that pizza recipe you saw earlier today but you don’t remember where you saw it. Typing goat cheese pizza into the search box would easily find the recipe again. You could also search for pizza or cheese if you didn’t remember the specific type of pizza or cheese. Less specific searches are likely to bring up more matches though. If you prefer to search using your voice, you can select the microphone then speak your search query.

Screenshot of the search field for Recall showing the microphone icon and a search for goat cheese pizza.

By default, results are shown from all apps where Recall found matches. You can narrow down your results by filtering the matches to a specific app by selecting an app from the list.

Screenshot of the list of apps that contain the results in Recall

When the results are displayed, they will be listed under the headings of text matches and visual matches . Matches that are closer to your search are shown first. You’ll also notice that some items are listed as one of the following types of matches:

Close match : Close matches typically include at least one of the search terms or images that are representative of a term in your query.

Related match : Matches that share a commonality with the search terms would be considered related. For instance, if you searched for goat cheese pizza , you might also get related matches that include lasagna or cannelloni since they are Italian dishes too.

Interacting with content

Once you’ve found the item you want to see again, select the tile. Recall opens the snapshot and enables screenray, which runs on top of the saved snapshot. Screenray analyzes what’s in the snapshot and allows you to interact with individual elements in the snapshot. You’ll notice that when screenray is active, your cursor is blue and white. The cursor also changes shape depending on the type of element beneath it. What you can do with each element changes based on what kind of content screenray detects. If you select a picture in the snapshot, you can copy, edit with your default .jpeg app such as Photos , or send it to another app like the Snipping Tool or Paint . When you highlight text with screenray, you can open it in a text editor or copy it. For example, you might want to copy the text of a recipe’s ingredients list to convert it to metric.

Note:  When you use an option that sends snapshot content to an app, screenray creates a temporary file in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp in order to share the content. The temporary file is deleted once the content is transferred over the app you selected to use.

Screenshot showing Recall with screenray active and text selected.

Below your selected snapshot, you have more snapshot options. In many cases, you can have Recall take you back to exact location of the item, such as reopening the webpage, PowerPoint presentation, or app that was running at the time the snapshot was taken. You can also hide screenray, copy the snapshot, delete the snapshot, or select … for more snapshot options.

Screenshot of the options for the snapshot at the bottom of the Recall window.

Pause or resume snapshots

To pause recall, select the Recall icon in the system tray then Pause until tomorrow .  Snapshots will be paused until they automatically resume at 12:00 AM. When snapshots are paused, the Recall system tray icon has a slash through it so you can easily tell if snapshots are enabled. To manually resume snapshots, select the Recall icon in the system tray and then select Resume snapshots .  You can also access the Recall & snapshots settings page from the bottom of this window.

Screenshot of the resume snapshot option for Recall.

What if I don’t want Recall to save information from certain websites or apps?

You are in control with Recall. You can select which apps and websites you want to exclude, such as banking apps and websites.  You’ll need to use a supported browser for Recall to filter websites and to automatically filter private browsing activity. Supported browsers, and their capabilities include:

Microsoft Edge: blocks websites and filters private browsing activity

Firefox: blocks websites and filters private browsing activity

Opera:  blocks websites and filters private browsing activity

Google Chrome: blocks websites and filters private browsing activity

Chromium based browsers:  For Chromium-based browsers not listed above, filters private browsing activity only, doesn’t block specific websites

To exclude a website:

Select … then Settings to open the Recall & snapshots settings page.

You can also go to Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Recall & Snapshots to manage Recall.

Select Add website for the Websites to filter setting.

Type the website you want to filter into the text box. Select Add to add it to the websites to filter list.

Screenshot of adding a website to the filter list in the Recall & snaphots page in Windows settings

To exclude an app:

Select … then Settings to open the Recall & snapshots settings page

Select Add app  for the Apps to filter setting.

From the app list, select the app you want to filter from Recall snapshots.

In two specific scenarios, Recall will capture snapshots that include InPrivate windows, blocked apps, and blocked websites. If Recall gets launched, or the Now option is selected in Recall, then a snapshot is taken even when InPrivate windows, blocked apps, and blocked websites are displayed. However, these snapshots are not saved by Recall. If you choose to send the information from this snapshot to another app, a temp file will also be created in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp to share the content. The temporary file is deleted once the content is transferred over the app you selected to use.

Managing your Recall snapshots and disk space

You can configure how much disk space Recall is allowed to use to store snapshots. The amount of disk space you can allocate to Recall varies depending on how much storage your PC has. The following chart shows the storage space options for Recall:

You can change the amount of disk space used or delete snapshots from the Recall & snapshots settings page.

To change the storage space limit:

1. Expand the Storage settings.

2. Change the Maximum storage for snapshots limit by choosing the limit from the drop-down list. When the limit is reached, the oldest snapshots are deleted first.

To delete snapshots:

You can choose to delete all snapshots or snapshots withing a specific timeframe.

To delete all snapshots, select Delete all .

To delete snapshots from a specific timeframe, select a timeframe from the drop-down list, then select Delete   snapshots.

Spain, Ireland and Norway say they will recognize a Palestinian state. Why does that matter?

Norway, Ireland and Spain said they are recognizing a Palestinian state in a historic move that drew condemnation from Israel and jubilation from the Palestinians.

what does assignment help websites do

Norway, Ireland and Spain said Wednesday they would recognize a Palestinian state, a historic but largely symbolic move that further deepens Israel’s isolation more than seven months into its grinding war against Hamas in Gaza. Israel immediately denounced the decisions and recalled its ambassadors to the three countries.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that recognition of a Palestinian state “is a reward for terrorism.” “This will be a terrorist state, it will try to repeatedly carry out the massacre of October 7, and we will not agree to that,” said Netanyahu in a video statement released on Wednesday.

(Eduardo Parra/Europa Press via AP)

Spain, Ireland and Norway said Wednesday that they would recognize a Palestinian state on May 28, a step toward a long-held Palestinian aspiration that came amid international outrage over the civilian death toll and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip following Israel’s offensive .

The almost simultaneous decisions by two European Union countries, and Norway, may generate momentum for the recognition of a Palestinian state by other EU countries and could spur further steps at the United Nations, deepening Israel’s isolation.

Currently, seven member of the 27-nation European Union officially recognize a Palestinian state. Five of them are former east bloc countries who announced recognition in 1988, as did Cyprus, before joining the bloc. Sweden announced recognition in 2014.

The Czech Republic, an EU member, says that the 1988 recognition by the former Czechoslovakia — of which it then formed a part — does not apply to the modern state. Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry says that the two sides confirmed their recognition as Slovakia was becoming independent in 1992-93, and that the Palestinian state has a fully-functioning embassy in Bratislava since 2006.

EU members Malta and Slovenia say they may follow suit, though not immediately.

(Lise Aserud/NTB Scanpix via AP, File)

Some 140 of the about 190 countries represented in the U.N. have already recognized a Palestinian state.

Here’s a look at how and why the new European announcements could be important:

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

A U.N. partition plan in 1947 called for the creation of a Jewish state alongside a Palestinian state, but Palestinians and the wider Arab world rejected it because it would have given them less than half of the land even though Palestinians made up two-thirds of the population.

The Arab-Israeli war the following year left Israel with even more territory, Jordan in control of the West Bank and east Jerusalem, and Egypt in control of Gaza.

In the 1967 war, Israel seized all three territories, and decades of on-again, off-again peace talks have failed.

The United States, Britain and other Western countries have backed the idea of an independent Palestinian state existing alongside Israel as a solution to the Middle East’s most intractable conflict, but they insist Palestinian statehood should come as part of a negotiated settlement. There have been no substantive negotiations since 2009.

Though the EU countries and Norway won’t be recognizing an existing state, just the possibility of one, the symbolism helps enhance the Palestinians’ international standing and heaps more pressure on Israel to open negotiations on ending the war.

Also, the move lends additional prominence to the Middle East issue ahead of June 6-9 elections to the European Parliament .

Diplomatic pressure on Israel has grown as the battle with Hamas stretches into its eighth month. The U.N. General Assembly voted by a significant margin on May 11 to grant new “rights and privileges” to Palestine in a sign of growing international support for a vote on full voting membership. The Palestinian Authority currently has observer status.

The leaders of Spain, Ireland, Malta and Slovenia said in March they were considering recognizing a Palestinian state as “a positive contribution” toward ending the war.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said Wednesday, “This recognition is not against anyone, it is not against the Israeli people,” he said. “It is an act in favor of peace, justice and moral consistency.”

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide told The Associated Press that while the country has supported the establishment of a Palestinian state for decades, recognition is “a card that you can play once.”

“We used to think that recognition would come at the end of a process,” he said. “Now we have realized that recognition should come as an impetus, as a strengthening of a process.”

WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF RECOGNITION?

While dozens of countries have recognized a Palestinian state, none of the major Western powers has done so, and it is unclear how much of a difference the move by the three countries might make.

Even so, their recognition would mark a significant accomplishment for the Palestinians, who believe it confers international legitimacy on their struggle. Norway said it will upgrade its representative’s office for Palestine to an embassy but it was not clear what Ireland and Spain will do.

Little would likely change on the ground in the short term. Peace talks are stalled, and Israel’s hardline government has dug its heels in against Palestinian statehood.

WHAT IS ISRAEL’S RESPONSE?

Israel, which rejects any move to legitimize the Palestinians internationally, reacted rapidly Wednesday by recalling its ambassadors to Ireland, Norway and Spain.

In a video statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “the intention of several European countries to recognize a Palestinian state is a reward for terrorism.”

He said “80% of the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) support the terrible massacre of October 7. This evil must not be given a state. This will be a terrorist state.” He was referring to the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel that killed 1,200 people and led to the abduction of over 250 others.

Steps like the ones by the three European countries Wednesday will harden the Palestinian position and undermine the negotiating process, Israel says, insisting that all issues should be solved through negotiations.

Israel often responds to foreign countries’ decisions deemed as going against its interests by summoning those countries’ ambassadors and also punishing the Palestinians through measures such as freezing tax transfers to the cash-strapped Palestinian Authority.

WHO RECOGNIZES A PALESTINIAN

Some 140 countries have already recognized a Palestinian, more than two-thirds of the United Nations’ membership.

Some major powers have indicated their stance may be evolving amid the outcry over the consequences of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, which has killed more than 35,000 Palestinians according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry does not distinguish between noncombatants and fighters in its count.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said no recognition of a Palestinian state could come while Hamas remains in Gaza, but that it could happen while Israeli negotiations with Palestinian leaders were in progress.

France indicated that it isn’t ready to join other countries in recognizing a Palestinian state, even if it isn’t opposed to the idea in principle. French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné, in comments relayed by his ministry after a closed-door meeting with his Israeli counterpart on Wednesday, said that recognizing a Palestinian state must be “useful” in pushing forward a two-state solution and suggested that doing so now won’t have a genuine impact in pursuing that goal.

German, meanwhile, said it will not recognize a Palestinian state for the time being.

A spokesman for Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany was hoping for a negotiated two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians that would lead to a separate Palestinian state but admits that that solution, while being the best one, is currently a long way off.

A previous version of this story incorrectly referred to a 1948 U.N. decision that led to the creation of Israel. In fact, Israel declared independence in 1948 after the U.N. proposed a partition plan in 1947.
