However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Transcript: Effects of Individuals The victims that UNICEF goes to assist is primarily children and their mothers who are in need of vital materials in order to survive. These people are all around the world and UNICEF helps wherever they can. UNICEF is constantly collecting money and donations for their cause. They are always donating and assisting in any way they can around the world World Response Background UNICEF was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1954, UNICEF became a permanent part of the United Nations System. Risk Taking In the past the perpetrators would be the people who started World War II. That led to many countries being in need of many essential items and thus led to the formation of UNICEF. Nowadays there isn't really a one person to say caused these hard times. One could say the governments of the affected countries for not providing assistance to its people but its really hard to say who's really to blame. UNICEF UNICEF doesn't really have many risks in their cause other than maybe a volunteer taking the risk of catching a disease from a foreign country but aside from that UNICEF isn't a very risky organization. www.unicef.org www1.umn.edu www.wikipedia.com www.unicefinnovation.org www.supportunicef.org United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund Rescources Summary UNICEF has had a major impact on developing countries around the world. They have improved the lives of millions and continue to do so to this day. They have significantly reduced the mortality rates in hundreds of countries. They show that even with all the craziness going on around the world, people are still able to reach out to less fortunate people and help out. Impact Perpetrators Victims Considering that UNICEF is a United Nations Program, I would assume that the world was pretty happy to hear that someone was finally doing something to fix this problem. UNICEF is accepted pretty much worldwide. Everyone seems to love UNICEF. UNICEF is a United Nations Program headquartered in New York City, that provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.

The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in 2013 recognized Indigenous rights and preservation of traditional culture - to live freely without discrimination. UNICEF invited indigenous children to take part in the declaration launch “New version of the declaration is visually accessible and uses language that younger people can understand” and UNICEF holds youth in high regard as they are essential to communicating to governments and indigenous communities the declaration (Chien & Lupton, 2013). Information retrieved from: www.unicef.org References How has UNICEF gone beyond country legislations and borders to represent Indigenous peoples? Created in December, 1946: Its mission was to provide emergency relief to children who were victims and refugees of World War II A subset of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration Initially, UNICEF used gov’t, stakeholder, and personal donation funding to provide food aid and tuberculosis vaccination for over 10 million children. By the 1950s, the UN decided to make UNICEF a permanent organization that would develop long-term goals of child aid, healthcare/educational systems, and maternal health education, as it had become very well-known In the 1980s UNICEF called for a strategic plan of financial support on a sustained basis for Africa to aid the children dying from preventable deaths, such as by disease and starvation. By 2006, UNICEF had partners in 157 countries, with 7000+ workers helping to provide assistance and promote children's rights. 2024 international day of social work: burundi's commitment to social change, with support from unicef, the national association of social workers of burundi (naswa) commemorated this day on 12 april 2024, under the theme "a common future for transformative change.".

Les membres de l'Association nationale des travailleurs sociaux du Burundi (NASWA) lors d'une marche à l'occasion de la Journée internationale du travail social.

  • Available in:

To mark this day, which is generally celebrated on 19 March each year, the National Association of Social Workers in Burundi (NASWA-BURUNDI) organized a round table on social work in Burundi, under the patronage of the Ministry of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights, and Gender, and with the support of UNICEF and other partners.

The presentations made by the various stakeholders and the fruitful and enriching discussions that followed focused mainly on the need to regulate the practice of social work in Burundi, the need to build the capacity of social workers, and the profile of the actors involved in the area of child protection.

Déogratias Nahabandi, président de la NASWA-Burundi, prononce son mot de circonstance.

" In Burundi, social work as a profession is still a new field. As a result, it is not sufficiently recognized, valued, or encouraged by the various public and private players ," pointed out Déogratias Nahabandi, President of NASWA, at the opening of the round table.

Many of the speakers highlighted the fact that the term "social worker" often leads to confusion, as many people fail to understand the difference between professionals qualified as social workers, social assistants, and paraprofessionals in social work. " The only body of social work professionals in Burundi (NASWA-BURUNDI) is not yet widely known ," lamented the head of NASWA Burundi.

In response to this concern, UNICEF's Deputy Representative in Burundi, Nathalie Meyer, reiterated UNICEF's commitment to continuing to support the Government of Burundi in strengthening the social services workforce and to supporting NASWA Burundi's action program. She therefore invited this association to put its expertise in social work at the service of vulnerable children and their communities, in support of the efforts of the Government of Burundi. " Without the commitment of social workers, social assistants, and paraprofessionals in social work, it is difficult to hope to realize our dream of offering quality social and child protection services to people in need," she stressed.

Godelieve Ndayishimiye, représentant le ministère de la solidarité nationale

On behalf of the Minister of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights, and Gender, Mrs. Godelieve Ndayishimiye, adviser to the Department for Children and the Family, appreciated the enormous contribution made by social workers in improving the living conditions of vulnerable and disadvantaged people, including children. " I reiterate the Ministry's commitment to continue collaborating with all those who wish to work with the government to protect human rights, and in particular children's rights ," she said.

Jacqueline Murekasenge, membre de la NASWA Burundi, a fait une présentation sur l'histoire du travail social et la nécessité de réglementer la pratique du travail social au Burundi.

Among the main recommendations made at the end of the discussions were the urgent need to map all social workers and social assistants, and the need to work with the Ministry of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights, and Gender to promote social services through various technical services and social protection agencies.

It was also recommended that a technical team be set up to draw up terms of reference for social workers, paraprofessionals, and social assistants, showing the limits of each category and the areas of capacity building required.

According to the President of NASWA Burundi, these recommendations will inspire the development of a roadmap for the professionalization of social work and the social workforce in Burundi.

Each year the Johns Hopkins Vaccine Initiative (JHVI) hosts Vaccine Day to highlight the advancements in vaccine research by inviting a distinguished scientist to deliver a keynote address on the current status of topics ranging from dengue, rotavirus, COVID-19, measles, and more.

The inaugural Vaccine Day held in 2008 officially launched the JHVI, and 14 Vaccine Day events have been hosted since. Led by Professor Ruth Karron , Vaccine Day works to promote and foster current vaccine research at the Bloomberg School.

This year, Vaccine Day featured two keynote speakers. First Gabriela Paz-Bailey, MD, PhD, MSc, DTM&H, the Chief of the Dengue Branch in the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases from the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) at the CDC, discussed the basics of dengue transmission and pathogenesis, factors contributing to the increasing global burden of disease from dengue, current outbreak trends, and the current testing and treatments for dengue infections.

Anna Durbin, MD, a professor and the Director of the Center for Immunization Research in the Department of International Health shared the history of dengue vaccine research, an overview of currently available dengue vaccines, her ongoing research developing new vaccines, and the challenges around vaccine implementation and surveillance.

A panel discussion followed with the keynote speakers and two additional vaccine experts, Rupali Limaye, PhD ’12, MPH, MA, an associate professor in the GDEC Program in the Department of International Health and 2nd year MSPH student Morghan Park . During the panel, attendees had the opportunities to ask questions about dengue vaccine research and implementation, issues around vaccine hesitancy, and the importance of improving communication and trust around vaccines within communities.

The event also hosts a poster session that showcases vaccine-related research by students and faculty at the Bloomberg School. Each year this session brings about a rich forum of discussions and knowledge sharing around ongoing research and awards the top 3 student poster presentations. This year over 40 posters were displayed by faculty, staff, and students. The 2024 poster winners are:

1st Place: Binh Nguyen, Zhengrong Li and Samandika Saparamadu – “To Subsidize or Not to Subsidize: The Cost-Effectiveness of RSV Vaccination Among Infants in the U.S.”

2nd Place: Molly Sauer and Prachi Singh – “Characterizing Potential Acceptability of Maternal RSV Vaccination in Kenya: A Latent Class Analysis Approach”

3rd Place: Laura St Clair – “mTOR Activation is associated with greater protective antibody responses following Influenza Vaccination in Young Adult Female compared to Male Mice”

Finally, the new cohort of PAVE Scholars was announced during the event. PAVE, Program in Applied Vaccine Experiences , supports vaccine-focused internships for Johns Hopkins students at international organizations that hold critical roles in global vaccine policy and delivery. Students spend 12 to 16 weeks working full time at one of the partner organizations, gaining valuable experience in vaccine research, policy, and programs of global importance. The outstanding PAVE Scholars 2024 cohort is:
