Listen: we know homework isn’t fun, but it is a good way to reinforce the ideas and concepts you’ve learned in class. But what if you’re really struggling with your homework assignments?

If you’ve looked online for a little extra help with your take-home assignments, you’ve probably stumbled across websites claiming to provide the homework help and answers students need to succeed . But can homework help sites really make a difference? And if so, which are the best homework help websites you can use?

Below, we answer these questions and more about homework help websites–free and paid. We’ll go over:

  • The basics of homework help websites
  • The cost of homework help websites
  • The five best homework websites out there
  • The pros and cons of using these websites for homework help
  • The line between “learning” and “cheating” when using online homework help
  • Tips for getting the most out of a homework help website

So let’s get started!

The Basics About Homework Help Websites–Free and Paid

Homework help websites are designed to help you complete your homework assignments, plain and simple.

What Makes a Homework Help Site Worth Using

Most of the best sites allow users to ask questions and then provide an answer (or multiple possible answers) and explanation in seconds. In some instances, you can even send a photo of a particular assignment or problem instead of typing the whole thing out!

Homework help sites also offer more than just help answering homework questions. Common services provided are Q&A with experts, educational videos, lectures, practice tests and quizzes, learning modules, math solving tools, and proofreading help. Homework help sites can also provide textbook solutions (i.e. answers to problems in tons of different textbooks your school might be using), one-on-one tutoring, and peer-to-peer platforms that allow you to discuss subjects you’re learning about with your fellow students.

And best of all, nearly all of them offer their services 24/7, including tutoring!

What You Should Should Look Out For

When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of scam sites out there willing to prey on desperate students. Before you sign up for any service, make sure you read reviews to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.

A word to the wise: the more a company advertises help that veers into the territory of cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. The best homework help websites are going to help you learn the concepts you’ll need to successfully complete your homework on your own. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” a little later!)

body-gold-piggy-bank-money

You don't need a golden piggy bank to use homework help websites. Some provide low or no cost help for students like you!

How Expensive Are the Best Homework Help Websites?

First of all, just because a homework help site costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. Likewise, just because a homework help website is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best websites, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!

When it comes to paid homework help services, the prices vary pretty widely depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to $150 dollars per month, with the most expensive services offering several hours of one-on-one tutoring with a subject expert per month.

The 5 Best Homework Help Websites

So, what is the best homework help website you can use? The answer is that it depends on what you need help with.

The best homework help websites are the ones that are reliable and help you learn the material. They don’t just provide answers to homework questions–they actually help you learn the material.

That’s why we’ve broken down our favorite websites into categories based on who they’re best for . For instance, the best website for people struggling with math might not work for someone who needs a little extra help with science, and vice versa.

Keep reading to find the best homework help website for you!

Best Free Homework Help Site: Khan Academy

  • Price: Free!
  • Best for: Practicing tough material

Not only is Khan Academy free, but it’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your needs. When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads.

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

  • Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
  • Best for: 24/7 homework assistance

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school.

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects.

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

body-photomath-logo-2

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

  • Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services)
  • Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them.

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers.

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

  • Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want
  • Best for: Comprehensive and personalized reading and writing help

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help.

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter!

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!

body-studtypool-logo

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

  • Best for: Science homework help
  • Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

We’ll go over the good–and the not-so-good–aspects of getting online homework help below.

3 Pros of Using Homework Help Websites

First, let’s take a look at the benefits.

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays.

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college.

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Instead, you can access helpful resources wherever you can access the internet, whenever you need them.

This is especially true if you tend to study at off hours because of your extracurriculars, work schedule, or family obligations. Sites that offer 24/7 tutoring can give you the extra help you need if you can’t access the free resources that are available at your school.

#3: Variety

Not everyone learns the same way. Maybe you’re more of a visual learner, but your teacher mostly does lectures. Or maybe you learn best by listening and taking notes, but you’re expected to learn something just from reading the textbook .

One of the best things about online homework help is that it comes in a variety of forms. The best homework help sites offer resources for all types of learners, including videos, practice activities, and even one-on-one discussions with real-life experts.

This variety can also be a good thing if you just don’t really resonate with the way a concept is being explained (looking at you, math textbooks!).

body_stophand

Not so fast. There are cons to homework help websites, too. Get to know them below!

3 Cons of Using Homework Help Websites

Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help.

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option.

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up.

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service!

body-cheat-cheating-cc0

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get.

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating.

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help Websites for You

Now that you know some of our favorite homework help websites, free and paid, you can start doing some additional research on your own to decide which services might work best for you! Here are some top tips for choosing a homework help website.

Tip 1: Decide How You Learn Best

Before you decide which site or sites you’re going to use for homework help, y ou should figure out what kind of learning style works for you the most. Are you a visual learner? Then choose a site that uses lots of videos to help explain concepts. If you know you learn best by actually doing tasks, choose a site that provides lots of practice exercises.

Tip 2: Determine Which Subjects You Need Help With

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. But if history is where you’re struggling, a site that specializes in math won’t be much help. So make sure to choose a site that you know provides high-quality help in the areas you need it most.

Tip 3: Decide How Much One-On-One Help You Need

This is really about cost-effectiveness. If you learn well on your own by reading and watching videos, a free site like Khan Academy is a good choice. But if you need actual tutoring, or to be able to ask questions and get personalized answers from experts, a paid site that provides that kind of service may be a better option.

Tip 4: Set a Budget

If you decide you want to go with a paid homework help website, set a budget first . The prices for sites vary wildly, and the cost to use them can add up quick.

Tip 5: Read the Reviews

Finally, it’s always a good idea to read actual reviews written by the people using these homework sites. You’ll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of what the users’ experiences have been. This is especially true if you intend to subscribe to a paid service. You’ll want to make sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!

10 Best Homework Help Websites for Students

By Med Kharbach, PhD | Last Update: May 11, 2024

homework help websites

In the age of information, the pursuit of knowledge isn’t limited to the boundaries of a physical classroom. The internet, a vast repository of knowledge, provides an invaluable resource for students in need of assistance with their homework. But with such an expansive digital landscape, finding reliable, high-quality educational resources can often feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

That’s where our curated list of the best homework help websites comes into play. To help you navigate the limitless sea of educational platforms, we’ve done the legwork and compiled a selection of the very best websites offering homework help. These websites, vetted for their quality and effectiveness, cover a broad range of subjects, ensuring that every student finds the assistance they need.

Homework Help Websites for Students

From math and science to language learning, social studies, and history, these platforms provide comprehensive resources that empower students to tackle their homework with confidence. Read on to explore our top picks and elevate your learning journey

1. AI Chatbots

Since I published this list on homework assistants, several shifts have occurred in the online landscape, one of which is the remarkable advancement of AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Jasper, Perplexity AI, among others. It struck me that these tools, if harnessed with care and responsibility, could serve as invaluable allies in the homework help arena.

These AI companions can offer instant assistance with a wide range of subjects, from math to literature, making them a flexible resource for students seeking to deepen their understanding or overcome specific challenges. Moreover, their ability to provide tailored support and explanations can make the learning process more engaging and personalized. It’s crucial, though, for students to remain critical thinkers and not rely solely on these tools, using them to supplement their learning journey rather than replace traditional study methods and the invaluable guidance of teachers.

Brainly is a website that offers homework help with subjects such as Math, Social Studies, World Languages, Computer Science, Arts, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, among others. Homework help in Brainly is community-driven and is provided by other students, tutors, Phds, and teachers. There is also the option for students to work 1:1 with tutors live. To learn more, check out Brainly full guide for students .

Chegg is another good website that offers homework help. More specifically Chegg offers three main services: Chegg Study, Textbook rentals, and Internship career advice. These services are accessible for a fee, the subscription plan starts at 14.95 per month.

The Chegg Study comprises the following features: textbook solutions, expert Q&A, writing help, math solver, premium flashcards, video explanations and more. To learn more, check out  Chegg’s full tutorial for students .

3- Socratic

Socratic offers homework help with Science, Math, Literature, Social Studies and more. Socratic provides visual explanations, video tutorials  and detailed step by step guides to help students understand complex concepts.

Using Google AI, Socratic makes it super easy for any student to find solutions to their learning problems. Students simply ask questions using their voice or writing and Socratic brings the best possible educational resource that answers their question. Socratic is available as iOS and Android app.

Quizlet is a very good homework help website. It equips students with the tools they need to learn any skill. There are in-depth explanations that use step by step explanations to show students how to solve complex problems.

Quizlet hosts solutions in over 60 subjects. The Flashcard feature in Quizlet is another powerful tool to help students prepare for their assignments and quizzes. Students can create their own interactive flashcards and study sets or use pre-made ones shared by other students and learners. Quizlet is also available as a mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. To learn more, check out Quizlet guide for teachers and students .

5- Bartleby

Bartleby enables students to search for and find answers to their learning problems, access textbooks, and explore step by step explanations to homework questions. Students can also browse homework help by subject.

There are numerous subjects covered including math, language, engineering, business, social science, science, and many more. Besides homework help, Bartleby also offers a virtual writing center to help students develop their writing skills and Bartleby tutor which provides 1-on-1 tutoring help 24/7. Plus a free trial period, Bartleby also offers the first week for $4.99.

6- Numerade

Numerade features short explanatory STEM video lessons covering answers to different textbook problems and questions. Students can search for problems  or upload an image and get instant help.

Each explanation comes with a step by step video lesson showing how to solve textbook problems. Numerade offers help with textbook questions in the following subjects: physics, algebra, trigonometry, biology, chemistry, accounting, calculus, geometry, statistics, pre-calc, accounting, and many more. Nemrade is also available as an iOS app.

Shmoop offers homework help and study guides for students. Shmoop’s materials stand out because of the dose of humour integrated in them. Shmoop’s resources include study guides, courses, quizzes, assignments, activities, test prep, book summaries, and many more. Some of the resources provided by Shmoop are free but to unlock all the features and content a premium subscription is required.

Enotes is another website to assist students with their homework. It offers precise summaries of books and Q&A services. Students can ask questions about books they have difficulty understanding and Enotes provides answers.

There are over 375.000 questions answered, over 30.000 book summaries, quizzes, lesson plans, study guides and many more. Enotes offers a 48-hour free trial after which you need to upgrade to unlock the site’s features.

9- Sparknotes

Another homework help website that is similar to Enotes. Sparknotes offers study guides that are mostly (but not exclusively) focused on literature. Other subjects covered include: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, History, Psychology, Philosophy, Sociology, and many more.

Teachers can also access materials to help them with the teaching of classic literature including lesson plans and several other customizable materials. Sparknotes offers the first month for free then you need to upgrade to access the site’s materials.

10- Khan Academy

Khan Academy is another very good platform students can use to access a plethora of educational resources covering different subject areas. The site offers tutorials, instructional videos, explainers, guides, lesson plans and many more.

Final thoughts

The landscape of education has been significantly altered by technology, and homework websites are no exception. They offer a range of features—from collaboration tools and assignment trackers to full-fledged courses—that are changing the way students engage with their studies. Whether it’s Khan Academy’s mastery learning approach or Chegg’s expert guidance, each platform brings its unique offerings to the table.

That being said, no homework website can replace the tactile experience of a teacher’s guidance, and not all are made equal. As with anything in the educational tech world, it’s crucial to critically evaluate the sources we rely on. In my experience, while some websites can indeed be lifesavers during crunch time or as complementary study aids, others can be more of a distraction than a help.

The 8 Best Homework Help Websites Where You Can Pay an Expert to Do Your Homework

websites that will do homework

However, there are many ways to make this process more pleasant and less stressful for you. There are a few ways how you can make the homework process simpler. You can order professional homework help or know their valuable tips on how to do the homework. Hence if you think why can’t I do my homework , we are providing you with a company profile on the DoMyHomework123 website where you can find homework help. Additionally, we will give you a few tips that will come in handy when you do not know how to start doing your homework and how to do it effectively.

How to Start Doing Your Homework?

No matter how many homework tasks you have in your diary it still may be difficult for you to start writing them and you may look for how to do your homework faster . Students often feel tired after studying at school and do not have a desire to study once again one day when they arrive home. Therefore we will provide you with a working strategy that will help you to start your homework more easily.

Choose the strategy that you like most: to start with easier or more complex tasks. You probably have home tasks that require more effort and time such as research papers which consist of a few pages or complex team projects. Alongside you probably have smaller tasks such as solving math problems or answering some literature questions.

My outline which problems and home assignments are easier and which are harder to do. You should choose whether you want to start with the complex assignments which should leave you with easier tasks for later or whether you want to go with smaller ones first and then concentrate on more complex tasks.

It will help you to keep your home assignment processes under control and know the sequence in which you will do your homework. This will also help you to predict how fast you will finish your homework.

Homework Tips That Will Help Me

Every student needs paying someone to do your homework faster at some point in their lives. However, you will be able to cope with your home assignments on your own if you follow the next tips:

  • Listen to the teacher attentively: when the teacher explains how to do the home assignment in class they share valuable hints which will definitely help you when you proceed to completing the assignment at home. Therefore, you should better write down everything said by the teacher and apply it when you start working on your homework on your own to know how to do your homework well .
  • Get all the materials ready: no matter what subject you are currently working at you need to apply the materials indicated by your professor. These can be specific theories outlined during the session textbooks or other Internet resources provided by the teacher. You need to recollect all the information about the materials that should be used and get them ready to find the information that should be relevant to your home task.
  • Focus: it is impossible to do homework effectively without focusing on it fully. Therefore you should take away all those possible distractions such as messages sent on social media or background noises on that television. You should also make sure that you are alone in the room and that no one talks to you or with someone else in the background.

Many internet resources may provide you with even more tips regarding completing your home assignment quicker and faster.

Will Best Homework Helpers Do All My Assignments

When the students look for the home homework help website and pay someone to do your homework fast hope to receive help with all the subjects. But you may be wondering if this is even possible. In fact it is. Professional helpers can assist students with any type of home assignment they request. The professional homework help websites offer assistance in all the possible subjects that you may find in your curriculum such as programming, math, biology, literature, art, or Spanish. Thus, you need to learn how to hire someone to do your homework and order all their home assignments simultaneously. However, you will need to create a separate order for each subject or each assignment.

Is Homework Service Legit?

Services where you are paying someone to do your homework are legit and operate legally. These are the companies that provide services to students all over the world legally. They do not scam students and have transparent policies and rules which you can read before using DoMyHomework123 or any other popular homework help website where you can learn how to pay someone to do your online homework .

You may also be worried because many schools and colleges do not allow buying homework help online. However, the writers work professionally and your professor never finds out that they did the who made homework and that this was not you.

7 Apps That Can Do Your Homework Much Faster Than You

7 Apps That Will Do Your Homework For You

In the field of educational technology, some apps might be getting too smart.

More and more apps are delivering on-demand homework help to students, who can easily re-purpose the learning tools to obtain not just assistance, but also answers. Whether or not that’s cheating—and how to stop it—is one of the concerns surrounding a new app that can solve math equations with the snap of a camera . While the software has inspired teachers to create real-world homework problems that can’t be automatically solved , that strategy doesn’t hold up to other apps that tap into real-life brains for solutions.

Here’s a look at 7 apps that can do your homework for you, and what they have to say about cheating:

Price : Free Availability : iOS, Android app coming in early 2015

The new, seemingly magic app allows users to take pictures of typed equations, and then outputs a step-by-step solution. As of Wednesday, the app is the number one free app on the App Store. But the biggest issue, one teacher argues , isn’t if students will use the app to cheat, because many will. Rather, it’s about how teachers will adapt. A PhotoMath spokeswoman said educators have welcomed the app with positive reviews, but the software remains “quite controversial.”

“We didn’t develop PhotoMath as a cheating tool. We really wanted kids to learn,” said Tijana Zganec, a sales and marketing associate at tech company MicroBlink, which created PhotoMath. “If you want to cheat, you will find a way to cheat. But if you want to learn, you can use PhotoMath for that.”

Whether you’re a high schooler with eight periods of classes or a college student tackling dozens of credits, there’s one thing you’ve got for sure: a mess of assignments. iHomework can help you keep track of all your work, slicing and dicing it in a variety of ways. Sorting it by due date, week, month, or by course, the app is more organized than a Trapper Keeper. And in integrating data from Questia, you can link your reading material to your assignments so you don’t have to dig through a pile of papers to find the right information.

A scheduling feature can help you keep track of those random bi-weekly Thursday labs, and you can even mark the location of your courses on a map so you don’t end up on the wrong side of campus. And finally, with iCloud syncing, you can access all this information on whatever Apple-compatible device you’re using at the moment — no need to dig for your iPad.

Google Apps for Education

Taking the search giant’s suite of free browser-based apps and sandboxing them so they are safe for school use, Google Apps for Education is an excellent alternative to the mainstream installable productivity software, but this one has a perk that almost school board will love—it’s free. Packaging together favorites like Gmail, Hangouts, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive with Classroom, a digital hub for organizing assignments and sending feedback, the goal of this collection is to make learning a more collaborative process.

Though Google Apps for Education is cloud-hosted, the programs can be used offline, ideal for when your student needs to escape the internet and work distraction-free. And since it works on any device, it also helps students avoid buying overly expensive hardware. That means more money for extracurricular activities.

Price: Free, but some homework services require payment Availability: iOS and Android

HwPic is a tutoring service that allows students to take send pictures of their homework to tutors, who will then respond within minutes to your questions with a step-by-step solution. There’s even an option to expedite the answers if a student is in a hurry. HwPic Co-Founder Tiklat Issa said that the app was initially rejected by Apple’s App Store, which believed it would promote cheating, but he successfully argued that just because someone uses the app in a way that it’s not meant to be used doesn’t mean the app should be punished.

Issa added that HwPic prohibits cheating in its terms and conditions. Tutors don’t solve homework that has words like “Quiz” or “Exam,” and they often know if a student is sending a photo during a test if they’ve paid for expedited answers, and if the photo is dim, blurry and taken under a desk. “We’ve minimized cheating,” said Issa. “We haven’t eliminated it. That’s kind of unrealistic.”

Wolfram Alpha

Price : $2.99 Availability : iOS and Android

Wolfram Alpha is similar to PhotoMath, only that it targets older students studying high levels of math and doesn’t support photos. The service also outputs step-by-step solutions to topics as advanced as vector calculus and differential equations, making it a popular tool for college students.

“It’s cheating not doing computer-based math, because we’re cheating students out of real conceptual understanding and an ability to drive much further forward in the math they can do, to cover much more conceptual ground. And in turn, that’s cheating our economies,” said Conrad Wolfram, Wolfram Research’s Director of Strategic Development, in a TEDx Talk . “People talk about the knowledge economy. I think we’re moving forward to what we’re calling the computational knowledge economy.”

Homework Helper

Price: Free Availability: iOS and Android

Chinese Internet search company Baidu launched an app called Homework Helper this year with which students can crowdsource help or answers to homework. Users post a picture or type their homework questions onto online forums, and those who answer the questions can win e-coins that can be used to buy electronics like iPhones and laptops.

The app has logged 5 million downloads, much to the dismay of many some parents who argue that the students spend less time thinking about challenging problems. A Homework Helper staffer admitted to Quartz , “I think this is a kind of cheating.”

Price: Free, but some homework services require payment Availability: iOS

Slader is a crowdsourcing app for high school and college students to post and answer questions in math and science. While students can post original homework for help, many questions in popular textbooks have already been answered on the app, according to Fast Company . An Illinois high school said earlier this year that it suspected students were using the service to cheat on their math homework.

Slader argues that it’s “challenging traditional ideas about math and education,” and said that the ideas behind its app “aren’t a write-off to teachers,” according to its blog . Slader told San Francisco media outlet KQED that it shouldn’t be dismissed as a cheating tool, but rather considered a way for students to access real-time help.

The 6 Best Sites to Rate and Review Teachers and Professors

These six academic websites rate and review teachers and professors, so you can be better prepared for the school or college year ahead.

A good professor or teacher can make or break a school year, which is why websites that let you rate your teachers and professors are so valuable. It's a way of warning others of potential teachers to avoid, or at the very least to prepare yourself for what's coming.

These online resources allow you to rate your professor or teacher so that you and your peers can make the best choice possible. Here are six of the best sites that let you rate your teacher worth checking out.

1. Rate My Professors

Rate My Professors boasts more than 19 million ratings of over 1.7 million professors from college students across the globe. These ratings come from more than 7,500 schools across the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, and Wales.

Simply type the name of a professor in the search bar, or find your school by entering its name. From there, you can read and leave reviews for your teachers and professors as either a member or guest. Regardless of your choice, you'll remain anonymous on Rate My Professors, so you don't have to worry about being found out.

On every school's page, you'll find the ratings of its top professors, as well as the average professor ratings and how that school stacks up to similar institutions. When combined with these great ways to use LinkedIn to choose a university to study at , this is a great resource for making an informed decision before going off to college.

When you click on a professor or teacher's name, you'll see their overall quality, whether students would take a class from them again, and the level of difficulty of their classes. You can also see tags that give you a better idea of how that professor teaches, as well as reviews and testimonials written by former students.

2. Rate My Teachers

RateMyTeachers is another popular way to review your classes and teachers. As the name implies, it asks students to rate their teachers on a number of metrics. The focus here is on elementary and secondary school teachers from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Users can search for teachers by name or choose a school. From there, you can rate that school's teachers or read reviews left by other students. RateMyTeachers allows you to rate your teachers on a scale of one to five stars in the following categories:

  • What kind of test does the teacher most often use?
  • Is the teacher available for extra help?
  • Does the teacher respond to emails promptly?
  • Does the teacher post in-class materials online for reference?
  • Does the teacher inform students of how their total grades are tallied?
  • How much homework does this teacher assign?
  • How much writing is required in this teacher's class?
  • Does the teacher allow students to use technology in class?
  • How much memorization is required to do well in this teacher's course?

If you have ever attended a class taught by a difficult teacher, you know that these questions are some of the most important for getting the most out of a class.

There are plenty of great ways to catch up in school when you've fallen behind . But, by doing some research, you can set yourself up for success and increase your odds of getting a good grade before you ever enter the classroom.

Uloop is a professor rating site completely powered by college students around the country. It consists of a huge database featuring a large number of schools in the United States. If you want to rate your teachers, then this is a great place to do so. It's also great to avoid getting stuck with a bad professor.

Uloop's biggest feature is not actually its professor rating section, but how it functions as a student marketplace for your college.

This means that it not only allows you to rate your professor, but that it also includes other resources, such as jobs, housing, tutors, textbooks, and test prep. Whether you need to rent a room, find a tutor for homework help , or get help with your course load, Uloop is a great place to look.

Finding the professor reviews can be a little difficult, but the professor reviews themselves are solid, and the professor reviews and ratings are based on the following criteria:

  • Helpfulness

The ratings also include comments written by former students, which will give you a great deal of insight into what the professor is like. This way, you'll know what to expect before taking any of their classes.

Think of Uloop as a bulletin board system for students. It covers things like campus jobs, course notes, help with finding roommates, a textbook exchange, student loan help, and much more.

For any college student, Uloop is a fantastic resource that can be used to make friends, get better grades, and rate your professors.

For something a little different, Niche is an excellent choice. Niche doesn't let you rate individual teachers, but instead rates schools based on a variety of different metrics, including the teachers.

This means that you can look through schools to find one that is a good fit for you and your needs. The information on the quality of teachers is devised using the following metric:

  • How many students agree that the teachers give engaging lessons
  • How many students agree that the teachers genuinely care about the students
  • How many students agree that the teachers adequately lead and control the classroom

There's also plenty of other information here to look through when it comes to a school, and covers just about anything you could want. There are nearly 100,000 schools listed on Niche, so there's a wide variety of responses to look through here.

5. Student Reviews

At first glance, Student Reviews looks rather outdated and disorganized. The UI leaves something to be desired, but that doesn't change the fact that Student Reviews features an impressive database of class reviews with over 236,000 college reviews. There are reviews here of over 11,000 universities and more than 15,200 teachers.

The search feature is really great here. You can narrow down your search using a wide variety of metrics such as degree and major, satisfaction rate, school size, location, tuition amount, and other criteria. In addition to professor reviews and school ratings, the platform features a handful of tools like:

  • College finder
  • Articles related to career and education
  • Top schools in the US
  • Careers and majors
  • High school summer programs
  • Internships

If you're looking for something like the top computer science programs for bachelor's degree graduates , then this is the type of place you might find it.

Moreover, users can rate professors based on how clearly they teach, whether they have respect for students, how they express themselves in the classroom, and a number of other qualities.

6. Rate Your Lecturer

If you're based in the UK, you can make use of a great teacher rating site called Rate Your Lecturer.

It's a platform devoted to rating many things, including cities, universities, and of course, lecturers. Its database doesn't match that of Student Reviews and other similar websites, but it's a good starting point if you're looking for professor ratings and reviews.

Rate Your Lecturer allows students to rank lecturers by the quality of:

  • Intranet Support
  • Office Hours
  • Approachability

Each rating is from zero to ten stars, with a final overall score for the lecturer based on all the individual rankings. Once you find a good lecturer, you may want to make the most of some of the best apps and services for recording a lecture remotely in order to make the most of their lessons.

You can also type your university's name in the search bar to see its top five lecturers and other professors. If you don't see your lecturer listed, you can add him yourself and provide the first ranking. Your review will be anonymous.

Choosing Your Professor or Teacher

Taking a high school or university class from a bad teacher can be the difference between making and failing a course. Fortunately, there are ways to avoid or at the very least prepare for these teachers and professors going in.

These websites let you learn more about the teachers at your school and prepare for their classes accordingly. See the latest professor reviews and ratings, take notes, and then sign up for the classes you're interested in. While reviewing your teachers can be helpful, it's important to keep cybersecurity practices in mind and not reveal too much personal information.

ADHD in the Classroom: Helping Children Succeed in School

At a glance.

Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) experience more obstacles in their path to success than the average student. The symptoms of ADHD, such as inability to pay attention, difficulty sitting still, and difficulty controlling impulses, can make it hard for children with this diagnosis to do well in school.

A teacher is helping a student in the classroom

What to know

To meet the needs of children with ADHD, schools may offer

  • ADHD treatments, such as behavioral classroom management or organizational training;
  • Special education services; or
  • Accommodations to lessen the effect of ADHD on their learning.

Explore resources available for parents and teachers to help children with ADHD adjust to changes in school.

CDC funds the National Resource Center on ADHD (NRC), a program of Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD). The NRC provides resources, information, and advice for parents on how to help their child. Learn more about their services.

How schools can help children with ADHD‎

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that the school environment, program, or placement is a part of any ADHD treatment plan.

AAP also recommends teacher-administered behavior therapy as a treatment for school-aged children with ADHD. You can talk to your child's healthcare provider and teachers about working together to support your child.

Classroom treatment strategies for ADHD students

There are some school-based management strategies shown to be effective for ADHD students: 1

  • Behavioral classroom management 1 2

Organizational training

Did you know ‎, behavioral classroom management.

The behavioral classroom management approach encourages a student's positive behaviors in the classroom, through a reward system or a daily report card, and discourages their negative behaviors. This teacher-led approach has been shown to influence student behavior in a constructive manner, increasing academic engagement. Although tested mostly in elementary schools, behavioral classroom management has been shown to work for students of all ages.

Organizational training teaches children time management, planning skills, and ways to keep school materials organized in order to optimize student learning and reduce distractions. This management strategy has been tested with children and adolescents.

Teaching and supporting positive behavior‎

Special education services and accommodations.

Most children with ADHD receive some school services, such as special education services and accommodations. There are two laws that govern special services and accommodations for children with disabilities:

  • The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

Learn more about IDEA vs Section 504

The support a child with ADHD receives at school will depend on if they meet the eligibility requirements for one of two federal plans funded by IDEA and Section 504:

  • An Individualized Education Program (IEP) , or a

What are the main differences between an IEP and a 504 Plan?‎

• 504 Plan: Provides services and changes to the learning environment to meet the needs of the child as adequately as other students and is part of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Accommodations

IEPs and 504 Plans can offer accommodations for students to help them manage their ADHD, including the following:

  • Extra time on tests
  • Instruction and assignments tailored to the child
  • Positive reinforcement and feedback
  • Using technology to assist with tasks
  • Allowing breaks or time to move around
  • Changes to the environment to limit distraction
  • Extra help with staying organized

Did you know?‎

There is limited information about which types of accommodations are effective for children with ADHD. 3 However, there is evidence that setting clear expectations, providing immediate positive feedback, and communicating daily with parents through a daily report card can help. 4

What teachers can do to help

For teachers, helping children manage their ADHD symptoms can present a challenge. Most children with ADHD are not enrolled in special education classes but do need extra assistance on a daily basis.

Helping students with ADHD‎

CHADD's National Resource Center on ADHD provides information for teachers from experts on how to help students with ADHD.

Close collaboration between the school, parents, and healthcare providers will help ensure the child gets the right support. Here are some tips for classroom success:

Communication

  • Give frequent feedback and attention to positive behavior.
  • Be sensitive to the influence of ADHD on emotions, such as self-esteem issues or difficulty regulating feelings.
  • Provide extra warnings before transitions and changes in routines.
  • Understand that children with ADHD may become deeply absorbed in activities that interest them (hyper-focus) and may need extra assistance shifting their attention.

Assignments and tasks

  • Make assignments clear—check with the student to see if they understand what they need to do.
  • Provide choices to show mastery (for example, let the student choose among written essay, oral report, online quiz, or hands-on project.
  • Make sure assignments are not long and repetitive. Shorter assignments that provide a little challenge without being too hard may work well.
  • Allow breaks—for children with ADHD, paying attention takes extra effort and can be very tiring.
  • Allow time to move and exercise.
  • Minimize distractions in the classroom.
  • Use organizational tools, such as a homework folder, to limit the number of things the child has to track.

Develop a plan that fits the child

  • Observe and talk with the student about what helps or distracts them (for example, fidget tools, limiting eye contact when listening, background music, or moving while learning can be beneficial or distracting, depending on the child).
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
  • Involve the school counselor or psychologist.

Parent education and support

How to best advocate for your child‎.

A father is saying goodbye to his daughter before she goes to school

What every parent should know

  • School support and services are regulated by laws. The U.S. Department of Education has developed a "Know your rights" letter for parents and a resource guide for educators to help educators, families, students, and other interested groups better understand how these laws apply to students with ADHD so that they can get the services and education they need to be successful.
  • Healthcare providers also play an important part in collaborating with schools to help children get the special services they need. 5

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

CFPB v. Think Finance, LLC

We are the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a federal government agency that enforces laws that protect consumers.

In 2017, the CFPB sued Think Finance, LLC and six subsidiaries (collectively, the “Think Finance Entities”). For years, the Think Finance Entities managed three lenders: Mobiloans, Great Plains Lending, and Plain Green Lending. The Bureau’s lawsuit alleged that these businesses deceived people and broke licensing and lending requirements. As a result, their loans in 17 states are considered illegal, void, and uncollectable, according to the Bureau’s lawsuit. The Bureau’s lawsuit also stated that the Think Finance Entities helped two debt collection companies illegally collect loans.
