Job Description:

The University of Dubai is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to spearhead innovative communication techniques for optical communication systems. The role demands an in-depth understanding of the physical attributes of optical wireless communication and devices, coupled with the ability to devise inventive solutions for their application in optical space network configurations.

Success in this position requires a robust background in ray tracing techniques, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), and machine learning methodologies. Ideally, candidates will possess expertise in characterizing optical wireless channels, photonic components, optical system modeling, and simulating optical communication systems.

Candidates should demonstrate proven skills in critically evaluating and interpreting data, succinctly reporting findings, and collaborating seamlessly within a research team. Experience related to wireless optical communication systems is a prerequisite.

Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator

The Human Neural Circuitry (HNC) Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator to perform duties related to clinical research exploring the mechanisms of ketamine in  various neuropsychiatric disorders, including in epilepsy patients.   Specifically, the position will involve collection of clinical data and the coordination of ongoing clinical research projects for neuropsychiatricdisorders. This will include collection of cognitive and physiological assessments and neuroimaging (training will be provided). Our mission is to serve our patients with compassion, to collaborate with interdisciplinary scientists and community partners, and to lead innovative high-quality research studies that accelerate and transform treatments for severe mental illness. The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator will closely work with and be under the supervision of the principal investigator and clinical research manager.

Our lab is seeking a team member who is passionate about mental health and wants to drive innovation toward rapid-acting treatments and insights into the brain basis of various neuropsychiatric disorders, including epilepsy. This is an on-site role.

Duties include: 

  • Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments; contact participants with reminders or other requirements.
  • Prepare, distribute, and process questionnaires. 
  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs. File all appropriate correspondence.
  • Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
  • Administer standard study questionnaires and tests, score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
  • Perform basic measurements and tests on patients according to protocol, such as cognitive tasks, obtaining vital signs and EKG, after appropriate training/certification. Collect neuroimaging or study specimens according to protocol.
  • Assist in handling explanted patient electrodes and tissue processing. Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Process study compensation payments and thank-you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities. Assist with post-study activities, as needed.
  • Coordinate assessments performed by independent evaluators.
  • Coordinate quality control quarterly meetings for independent evaluators.
  • Monitor internal clinical studies and present monitoring forms to the quarterly clinical operations meetings.
  • Lead the study-specific weekly meeting.   
  • Process consultation invoices.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of common biosafety procedures.
  • BA/BS in Psychology, Human Biology, or a related field.
  • Clinical research experience, particularly with mental health patients (but not required).
  • Knowledge of good clinical practice (GCP) in clinical research (or willing to learn).
  • Ability to organize work and multi-task.
  • Experience with maintenance of clinical study binders and interface with electronic record-keeping methodologies (or willing to learn).
  • Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing routine tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

 Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

General knowledge of medical terminology.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:  

Working toward professional certification(s) for clinical research.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.  Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds. Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.

WORKING CONDITIONS:  

Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluid or tissues and risk of exposure to contagious diseases and infections. May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs. May require travel to areas within driving distance to collect samples.

This position is based on the Stanford main campus. 

The expected pay range for this position is $25.48 to $31.25 per hour.

  • Analysis of the therapeutic drug monitoring ( TDM ) samples, including daily assessment of instrument performance, maintenance of quality control data as directed by immediate TDM supervisor, assessing results, and reporting results to the TDM data base, notifying Clinical Pharmacologist of readiness, and reporting of results to clients. Flagging problem results and responding to unusual data.
  • Supporting the analytical chemistry area of the Clinical Pharmacology lab through the analysis of samples for either TDM or when appropriate research projects.
  • Assist in maintenance and readiness of sample analysis by maintaining the instruments clean, preparing solutions, manager of chemical and autoclave waste, clean the glassware, maintaining the chemical inventory, and other miscellaneous supportive activities.
  • Research Support: Data collection, setting up data bases for data collection; reporting data; collecting and preparing data for reporting; reporting data, particularly that related to the TDM database.
  • Assist with the invoicing process (processing, sending out, payment, and review). Responsible for receiving and distribution of the laboratory supplies.
  • Ability to provide administrative and professional support to research programs and projects.

Job description / Role

We are seeking an Executive Assistant with strong marketing capabilities and a great deal of attention to detail to assist the General Manager and Marketing Manager. The role requires a highly creative individual who has a strong background and experience in preparing and delivering superior presentations, documents and reports using MS Word and MS PowerPoint. This will include the use of images, colors, adding animations, graphics and transitions. As well as PowerPoint, candidates should be able to also demonstrate working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including tools, such as Canva and MS Publisher. Travel and event organisation will also play a large part in the role, including liaising with both internal and external stakeholders as well as local suppliers, ranging from venues, gift registries, catering, etc. The Executive Assistant will monitor the budgets, process invoices, and assist in all aspects of the events which can range from small seminars to large corporate and trade functions. The full scope of marketing activity will need to be supported and this also includes social media content and placement. Hence, English to completely fluent / native standard is required in this role due to the large amounts of written content required.

Job Description Summary:

This Student Assistant II position supports the archival and processing of meteorological datasets collected from national and international scientific field projects supported by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL).

The incumbent will gather, document, and archive scientific datasets and metadata using EOL data management tools. Works with staff to improve Field Data Archive (FDA) content and improve dataset functionality and capabilities. Creates web content for current and past field projects using a Content Management System (CMS).

Key Responsibilities of this position:

Gather, Document, and Archive Scientific Datasets – Responsible for archiving, documenting, and tracking scientific field project datasets using existing web-based software. This includes:

Working with staff and data providers to gather data and metadata for archival, including creating or editing scripts and using tools to track and document work as required;

applying other existing functionality (e.g., plotting, subsetting) appropriately to datasets with staff support and creating permanent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs);

Improve FDA Content and Dataset Functionality and Capabilities – Works with higher-level associate scientists and software engineers to improve overall FDA system metadata and increase data set functionality (e.g., data subsetting and data plotting). This includes:

Assist in creating and updating content using the EOL Content Management System (CMS), including adding field project description pages and other web-based documentation as requested by the Data Management Lead or supervisor.

Performs other data management support tasks such as utilizing existing software tools to collect, read, reformat, and archive data sets from operational and research observing systems. May monitor existing, ongoing data ingest scripts.

Performs periodic publication searches for field projects and adds new publications to project publication web pages.

Education & Experience REQUIRED:

  • Must be Currently enrolled in an accredited secondary school or post-secondary school, college or university, or in a trade school that has received a Certificate of Approval from the Colorado State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education.
  • Must be graduating NO EARLIER than Spring 2025

Education & Experience Desired, but not required:

Enrolled in one of the following majors: atmospheric science, library science, data science, computer science, engineering, math or science, or a related discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities REQUIRED:

  • Proficient in using common tools such as MS Word, Excel, and Acrobat to create and edit documents and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to use virtual communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).
  • Ability to use the Unix/Linux operating system.

To support our growing department, we are seeking an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRC) to join Stanford Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology’s mission is to improve women’s health through innovative and compassionate care, education, advocacy and discovery. Our Department is committed to the highest level of basic and clinical research in Obstetric and Gynecologic science. In particular, we are focused on innovative translational medicine; bringing scientific results from the bench to the bedside.

The ACRC will assist with both the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine/Obstetrics, as well as the Division of Gynecology and Gynecologic Specialties. This person will coordinate simple to moderately complex aspects of one or more clinical studies under close direction of the research operations manager and/or the principal investigator. The team member will perform duties related to the coordination of clinical studies varying from industry sponsored research to multi-center randomized controlled trials to investigator-initiated studies.

Experience working with diverse populations is preferred.

Duties include:

  • Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments; contact participants with reminders or other requirements.
  • Prepare, distribute, and process questionnaires.
  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs. File all appropriate correspondence.
  • Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
  • Administer standard study questionnaires and tests, score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
  • Perform basic measurements and tests on patients according to protocol, such as obtaining vital signs and performing phlebotomy and EKG, after appropriate training/certification. Collect study specimens according to protocol.
  • Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.
  • Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Process study compensation payments and thank you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities. Assist with post-study activities, as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Two year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): General knowledge of medical terminology.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.

Assistant Researcher - BRAIN Laboratory Research Coordinator

Position overview, job description.

  • Coordinate with research participants, sites, or programs to facilitate study objectives, including the recruitment and scheduling of research participants, organizing team and laboratory meetings for the labs of Drs. Mosconi and Unruh, and work with KU personnel for purchasing, upgrading and maintaining equipment and complying with human subjects regulations.
  • Work directly with the PIs and lab members to support grant submissions and manuscript preparation, including identifying and entering study references, data analysis, and assisting in preparing all required materials.
  • Administration of research assessments with individuals with ASD and related conditions (e.g., FXTAS) ranging in age from 12 months – later adulthood.
  • Administration of clinical report measures and neuropsychological, eye movement, sensorimotor and functional MRI tests.
  • Score standardized and experimental tests as well as data entry and analysis in collaboration with members of the team and the PI.

Required Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. in a discipline related to motor control, neuroscience, psychology, geriatrics, or child development.
  • Experience in clinical research on neurodevelopmental disorders as evidenced by application materials.
  • Experience in a clinical research lab and in clinical research.
  • Previous coursework in clinical psychology, clinical neuroscience, or child development, as well as coursework related to conducting research as evidenced by application materials.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, the incumbent will be part of an administrative team that supports the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics and its faculty and staff. The incumbent will perform a variety of administrative and financial-related support tasks.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Communications

  • Serve as the main point of contact for departmental communications and updates
  • Update and maintain the department website
  • Moderation of social media presence for the department
  • Coordination of departmental newsletter

Faculty Recruitment

  • Serve as the main contact person for faculty recruitment
  • Plan and organize recruitment visits

Financial/Procurement

  • Process vendor invoices and travel and business expense reports (Concur) and check requests for payment/reimbursement by entering information into ARC & Concur and uploading requisite support documentation. This includes preparing and processing expense reports for department employees and guests/visitors.
  • Serve as principal liaison with vendors for order tracking, error corrections, returns, and adjustments.
  • Coordinate and place orders for goods and services from vendors.
  • Reconcile P-card purchases weekly using the University’s online financial management tool (ARC) and the departmental financial database.
  • Preparation of POs

Administrative Support for the Chair

  • Act as a liaison between the Chair and the University financial teams; prepare and submit reimbursement reports
  • Organize meetings and special seminars
  • Assist with correspondence and meeting planning as needed

Support Department faculty

  • Interface with facilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
